Exped - Dura 6R

Exped Dura. It has down. I have the 6R LW. You can get a slightly lighter version which is lighter due to thinner face fabrics. Avoid StS Etherlight XT at all costs, as I have had two getting pinctures where the dividers attach. Constant flats from just lying on them. And I am not the only one. This is why I bought the Exped Dura.

Expeds seem to be durable, I really like how comfy mine are also

I have the dura 6r, and ultra 5 mummy which hasn’t been used yet, the dura pad seems insanely durable although the ultra seems like it will be fine for durability also, seems like they are known for reliable sleeping pads so easy to reccomend

I'm a side sleeper and bought the Dura 6R. Heavier than my old downmat 5m but thicker, warmer and just as durable.

I'm on my second exped. The first one, a downmat,is still going strong but I needed a thicker one for health reasons. I liked the durability of the downmat but they stopped producing them. I went for the dura 6R. Durable like the name suggests, filled with down for insulation and 7cm instead of the 5cm downmat. My wife uses my old downmat which is now 10 years old. As it is down, I only use a pumpsack and don't blow in to them. The old downmat has been used on bothy floors, stood on, sat on and used and abused but is still going strong.

I've always found exeds comfortable and warm. Have an old down mat 5m (discontinued) and a Dura 6r. Yeah the dura is heavy but it is durable, down filled and very comfortable. I am recovering from spinal injuries and my temperature regulation is bollocked now I'm on blood thinners. I can save weight elsewhere.

Exped all the way. Love my green whatever name it is, it's insulated, so it's nice in cold months and works good in summer months.

Dump the nemo Astro out of the running: Its R value is listed at only 2.6 and it's 1lb 11 oz. The others are warmer and lighter. Plus it's a 20" wide pad. I don't know why, after all these years, we don't have a 23" option - more comfy than a 20", which tbh sucks but lighter than a 25". But I digress. We don't. It's either 20" or. 25". 25" is a way nicer nights sleep and Some of the pricier pads you've chosen here come in at this size for a very similar weight and significantly more warmth. And since all of these options are in your price range, according to you, then I'd say dump the nemo Astro. By comparison, the other Nemo pad, the extreme conditions, is an 8.5 r value and the Long and Wide size Is only 1 lb 10 oz. That's WAY warmer and more comfortable. It may suffer from a little less durability. Rab is a REALLY solid brand. I would categorically buy anything they made, and I have a lot of Rab gear. So if you are ok with a 20" pad, then this might really hit a sweet spot for you if price is an issue. I would forever and always buy a 5.5 R rating pad over a 2.6. The Thermarest has a very, very good 7+ R rating while also being very light for a long wide mat at 1lb 8 oz. Kinda seems like the winner to me. Again, the question is durability and how you will use it. If you expect to be at altitude or in cold weather or shoulder season, you'll want at least a 5 R value. Fyi Exped pads are really super too. I rock an older down filled Exped mat that's been good to me for a very long time now. R rating of 7+ - Have taken that into 20 degree temps on Mt Rainier for winter camping etc.

Hi all! After many years I'm finally replacing my heavy-ass (but comfy) Exped Dura. Versatility and some durability is very important for me, as I don't want to own several pads for several use-cases. I want to use my sleeping pad for three seasons, although living in Norway it can get -5 Celsius even in autumn, and having a buffer even then seems smart. I mostly want to use it in tents, but I do also hammock camp sometimes. I plan on eventually using it for a through hike, although in the next months it will be used for multi-day treks. I'm also a side sleeper. I've read a lot of reviews and figured out the three top contenders for me seem to be the **Nemo Tensor All-Season, Exped Ultra 5R and Big Agnes Rapide SL.** Here are the specs from the official websites, although I've heard that R-Values are often wrong and the weights are often without inflation-bags etc. If someone has corrections for the subjective warmth of the pads, the true packed size and the true weight that would be amazing! Came to say this. Their “Dura” line are made of the thickest fabrics available for air pads and shouldn’t suffer the failures of lighter weight alternatives

As others have mentioned, your requirements are unrealistic. You can't get light and durable or warm and cheap. Comfortable is also sadly somewhat tied to R-value since the thicker more comfortable pads also tend to have higher R-values and thus cost more. But with the exped duro series you can get quite durable and relatively warm and if you're willing to pay for it.

If durability is your main priority, an Exped Dura.

We have two Exped mats (Duras, I think) that we tether together. Then put a fitted twin sheet over them. Topped with the Enlightened Equipment Accomplice quilt. I have a Nemo Fillo pillow and my husband just uses a rolled up hoodie. We've had this set up for quite a few years now and it's worked really well for us! Our 60lb dog even crawls down between us and it still works.
