"super comfy. ... And even me at 270lbs I can sit in my side and not bottom out (inflated a lot though)"
"definitely has improved our sleep quality a lot while camping ... boyfriend has back issues so a bad sleep set up is not really an option"
"I just put up with the pinholes and patching them on trail because I can't sleep better on any other pad. ... There's a huge difference in comfort depending on your body between the dimpled baffling of the Etherlight/Tensor and the horizontal baffling of the Xlite. ... I can't sleep on horizontal baffling despite all the good features of the Xlite. ... I'm a side sleeper and my arms and shoulders ache and/or fall asleep or go numb on the Xlite. For whatver reason I can only sleep on dimpled baffles (tensor, etherlight)"

"Just had my second camp out with it. 0 issues with warmth at 50F , unsurprisingly. Also at 60f I didn ’t sleep hot so that ’s nice too."
"I can take it down to like 25-30F very comfortably."
"20 degrees F comfortably from below. Quilt wasn't up to it"

"Plus, being able to adjust the stiffness is a game changer for couples."
"It's about as comfortable as sleeping in my bed at home, not joking. ... It's 4" thick, I fill it up until it feels "squishy""
"causes much less back pain, and when inflated at the right level, causes no pain."

"The investment in an exped is worth it, especially the air bag to blow them up is genius."
"It uses an inflator bag and inflates easily/quickly."
"It can inflate the mattress in just a couple of minutes ... the best part is it can deflate absolutely all of the air out of the mattress, and it can be easily rolled up into its included storage sack."

"Got these and never had a leak in 3 years now and I sleep through the night."
"I'm hard on my gear and the Helix from REI has lasted me a few years with no signs of trouble."
"2 years of full time use and abuse on our exped megamat and it's still going strong."

"too heavy for backpacking"
"the bag it all lives in is about twice the size and weight of the M4P bag. ... the 3 batteries of the flymore combo are just under the limit of how much LiPo battery you're allowed to take on a plane."
"it's not designed to be deflated and carried around in a pack ... deflation is a hassle ... complete deflation isn't even possible ... packed volume is substantial ... It also won't stay rolled without something restraining it. ... foam will only compress so much, hence the substantial packed volume."

"These mats are a pain to put away as you usually have to body slam them to get all the air out; and then they still are not the same size as from the factory. ... Otherwise you need to body slam the thing to get all the air out."
"Expeds are constantly in the re-supply and a pain in the ass to pack back up."

"The other two have a slippery surface that makes the last 1" on each side unusable since you slide off it anyway. ... the slipperiness is annoying for me since it just allows my leg to slide back down/off the pad (this is why I tried and ultimately moved away from the Nemo)."

"I’ve used the megamat and even the megamat max and can’t seem to dial in the comfort. It’s either rock hard or a waterbed for me."

"I switched from an Exped Megamat Max ... I'm also a side sleeper and I finally have a place for my hips to go"
I am laying on my brand new MegaMat Max and I have to say last night sleep was the best I ever had camping. It is pricey but the best mattress I have slept on.
Not permanently but my visitors love my Exped mega mat. It gets used in preference to my sofa bed. [https://www.snowys.com.au/megamat-max-lxw-burgundy](https://www.snowys.com.au/megamat-max-lxw-burgundy)
I needed a sleeping mat for low temperatures so the high R rating on this is fantastic. It is also the most comfortable sleeping mat ever used.
A major impetus for buying this was my diagnosis of degenerative disc disease. It's very comfortable if you can still get up and down off the ground. I use a milk crate to help me get back up.
I switched from an [Exped Megamat Max](https://www.rei.com/product/244272/exped-megamat-max-sleeping-pad-long-x-wide) to a [Zempire Monstabed](https://www.rei.com/product/241305/zempire-monstabed-single-air-bed). You'd need the space in your tent for the taller bed, but it's incredible for sleeping, and is nice for getting in and out of bed, too. It packs smaller than the Megamat Max, but I'm not sure how ideal it is for backpacking unless good sleep is worth the weight. IMO it is the single best car camping option, though! I'm also a side sleeper and I finally have a place for my hips to go. It has two independent air cavities which I like from a redundancy perspective. The 12" bottom does most of the heavy lifting (I fill it to hard as a board then let air out for a quarter second) then the 4" foam can be separately adjusted for more or less cushion.
Yeah so far I've been comfortable with the build quality! I have the duo/twin version because it's usually me and at least a dog, and it has withstood (trimmed) dog nails with ease. I do make a point of never laying on it with clothing that has zippers, but I do the same with my Exped. The bottom is a much thicker material than the sides and top. It ships with a patch kit which looks perfect for small punctures, but I don't think the patches are enough for a tear. I do use a footprint and my newest tent has a heavy-duty tarp bottom though so I don't know that I've exposed the mat to any real risk.
I use the Megamat Max (15cm/6” thick) and it’s like sleeping on my mattress at home. So comfy!! I pair it with a short cot so I can get in and out of “bed” easily.
Megamat Max or Dometic Highrise 15. Like someone else said, you can buy two and place next to each other for maximum width. I purchased a cot from Helinox and still placed a mattress pad on top, but in my opinion, the two mattress I mentioned are much more comfortable.
that is great to hear! I’ve really not heard much either way about their customer service. i’ve put my megamat max through the wringer for a few years now and it has been flawless.
They are worth every cent, we have one in our RTT and it is super comfortable
I’ve used the megamat and even the megamat max and can’t seem to dial in the comfort. It’s either rock hard or a waterbed for me.

Exped megamat max is the one, But is super expensive. Decathlon ultim comfort is the “budget” version of that. Decathlon also does an inflatable bed base to further improve.
Have a Megamat Max 15, it is without a doubt the most comfortable sleeping mat I’ve ever used and better than many hotel beds I’ve slept on. Also, don’t worry about buying the electric pump, it self inflates and needs a dozen or so pumps from the hand pump to be inflated.
