"with the mummy shaped pad I often found myself halfway off the pad in the middle of the night."
I used a Thermarest LuxuryMap and it was fantastic.
r/drumcorps • Best sleeping Padd ->I’m in my late 60’s, side sleeper and I love my ThermaRest LuxuryMAP pad. Not as thick as the Exped but rolls up smaller and easy to inflate. By mouth.
r/camping • Need an old fart sleeping pad ->I am a side sleeper and use the Thermarest Luxurymap. It's pricey but the sleep quality is amazing. Self inflating with memory foam and it's an R value of 6.
r/camping • Need advice please. Should I get a duo sleeping pad for myself? ->I use a Thermarest Luxury Map or an older REI Camp 3.5 pad. Both are insulated and self-inflating. Make sure you get the extra long and wide versions if weight isn't a concern. And store it loose/inflated, not packed in the sack or rolled up.
r/CampingGear • Need a better sleeping pad. Any suggestions? ->I just picked up this one with the 20% off sale at REI and used it over the weekend at Acadia NP: https://www.rei.com/product/246692/zempire-w-leg-stretcher-v2-camp-cot It worked in my Nemo Impact 2 tent (which I think is the same as the Nemo Aurora 2 tent). I put my Thermarest Luxurymap L pad on top, then a wool army blanket, sheet/liner, blanket, and down quilt. I was comfy, snug, and cosy. I practiced setting up the cot indoors before my trip, and was able to set it up and take it down inside the tent.
r/camping • Question about camping cots ->My wife just upgraded us to a Hest and it was positively luxurious! One caveat, It does take up a lot of space, especially when compared to even the thickest of the self inflating mats. We had been using two Therm-A-rest Luxury Map 3s, tucked together in a fitted sheet, which was serviceable, but just okay. The Hest, on the other hand, was about as good a night of sleep as I get these days. Zero complaints on the sleeping experience whatsoever; Cloud-like.
r/camping • Couples: what do you sleep on (NO air mattresses, I resent them so much) ->For car camping I use the therma rest luxury map in the cold. I'm a scoutmaster, so yes, car camping in the winter
r/CampingGear • Best cold weather mattress that’s NOT an xtherm ->I've had thermarest since their inception. Great product
r/camping • What's the brand of the self-inflating mattresses that people swear by? ->I converted from a 3” thermarest to a cot **and**3” thermarest combo a few years ago. I top it off with an airline pillow that fits in the hood of my mummy bag. I camp with a small Toyota, and a dome tent, so a tall cot was not suitable. I use the [Woods powerlite low-set cot (worth every penny)](https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/woods-powerlite-portable-folding-low-set-camping-cot-300-lb-capacity-grey-0765849p.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADojZpjMyF1dCkuuJHBlfWSCtfnvb&gclid=CjwKCAjwwLO_BhB2EiwAx2e-30ZHplvXDXLZlE-2j0PuzYKpkv1UJD7QvJ25g4e1mMfIDsqwLy9_gRoCMrQQAvD_BwE#store=365) but a better price on sale. It packs down super small for transport and storage, weighs nothing. It has been a game changer (together with the thermarest). https://preview.redd.it/xc8m5py1fkse1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=548b43d3042e8e80522ec1ffafba709181df17ef With a [luxury map thermarest](https://vpo.ca/products/luxurymap-regular?variant=47572365214018&country=CA¤cy=CAD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADoQxTH90PDD5Pe1mzpX2p2rr38d8&gclid=CjwKCAjwwLO_BhB2EiwAx2e-3_cBc_fU6wp8FIGkBi5T5Xl3kyqHhQ-_xC9bujMY7_AnX8Athx-I5BoCO1wQAvD_BwE&Color=Poseidon+Blue&Size=) but there is probably a more compact option.
r/camping • Couples What do you sleep on? ->Hi! Fellow Canuck here :) I use the Woods Powerlite cot with a 3” insulated pad on it. My pad is a thermarest luxury map that I used to use right on the ground, but as a combo with the cot it is AMAZING (and much less likely to be damaged). If one of you is really tall then you probably want a wider cot. My really tall friends (6’ +) find that if they are on their sides curled up that their femurs are too long abs they end up with knees and butt on the cot frame. [Powerlite cot - note that the cot is low, this means that in a dome tent it can be closer to the walls:](https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/woodstm-powerlite-portable-folding-low-set-camping-cot-300-lb-capacity-grey-0765849p.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=1534569081&gbraid=0AAAAADojZphyJyP5S4T2GZl8GBaZawwaa&gclid=CjwKCAjw3MXBBhAzEiwA0vLXQeAkaqodEi4-6QU4ZlQdRFezg97nq4fvwDfPRRFK0Ydzcp7q0tZuJxoCWZ4QAvD_BwE#store=368) Bonus with this cot too is that it packs super small and won’t eat up too much storage space at home or in the car. For the 3” pad, you can try about anything with insulation and loft. The thermarest ones don’t pack down super small, but the trade off in good sleep is work it.
r/CampingGear • Best sleeping solution for camping? ->I use a Byer of Maine Easy Cot with a Thermarest Luxury Map XL sleeping pad. Depending on the weather I use regular bedding or a sleeping bag.
r/camping • Question about camping cots ->I have a Klymit Static V Luxe air pad and a Thermarest Luxury Map XL self inflating. I don’t backpack so space/weight are not an issue. The Thermarest is way more comfortable, not to mention warmer because of the high R value.
r/camping • Self inflating vs air pad comfort ->This cost me sleep at 30 F. My back was so cold I kept waking up. Went back to me thermarest luxury map.
r/camping • Best air mattress? ->Can confirm. Big inflatable mattresses make your back cold. Going back to my thermarest luxury map.
r/camping • Best air mattress? ->I just went to SoCal this spring but it was more car camping than anything so idk how much space you have to store stuff. I got a thermarest luxury map for half off at REI because it was thicker than the other pads I tried, I sleep on my side so it was a godsend. Keeps warm too. Thermal clothing, light jackets, long sleeved spf shirts and a good hat or two are gonna be needed. I brought a sleeping bag made for 0 degree weather because we were staying overnight at the Salton Sea, it fuckin wimdy out there. Sunscreen ofc, try out different kinds to find the one you'll like. I wore Merrell Moab 3s I also got used from REI, my one regret was not wearing them before the trip because then I'd figure out I'd need insoles for them. The tendonitis was hellish in the gravel wash trails. I had to bring my rite in the rain book for the class assignment, I kept them in my bag but I kinda wished I kept a fanny pack on me for short walks. Idk how much this'll help but if you have questions about particular areas like the Salton Sea I can help with that.
