r/AskUKIs a doorbell camera worth it?

If your worried about privacy (this is a legit concern btw, see Eufy and the shitshow that happened there) then yes get a camera, probably multiple in fact, but get tapo. I have a TAPO doorbell (TD21) and its great. Charge will probably last 4 months maybe longer, and thats even on high performance. A 128gb will probably last me a year or so. I have the base in the house where the card can sit, its extra but it means the card doesn’t have to live in the camera and i have two chimes in the house. It works in pitch black too. There is no need to have any cloud services of any kind, you will just not be able to answer when you’re away. When it does ring, it calls like a phone call, or if the camera detects motion, or you just fancy seeing whats there. Just bought the garden camera too. This sounds like a sales pitch for tapo haa

Search by ASIN to find the same product on other Amazon's pages: [https://www.amazon.com/Tapo-Smart-Wireless-Doorbell-Camera/dp/B0F5M75XCV?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Tapo-Smart-Wireless-Doorbell-Camera/dp/B0F5M75XCV?th=1) On Tapo's website: [https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/cloud-camera/tapo-d205/](https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/cloud-camera/tapo-d205/) D210's: [https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/cloud-camera/tapo-d210/](https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/cloud-camera/tapo-d210/) |INFO|D205|D210| |:-|:-|:-| |Image Sensor |1/2.8” Progressive Scan CMOS Sensor |1/3” Progressive Scan CMOS Sensor | |Lens|Focal Length: 2.4 mmAperture: F2.2Field of View: 160 (Diagonal),145°(Horizontal), 83°(Vertical)|Focal Length: 1.18 mmAperture: F1.8Field of View: 160° (Diagonal),135° (Horizontal), 109° (Vertical)| |Night Vision |2× 850 nm IR LEDs (25 ft, 7.6 m)Black and White Image|850 nm IR LED (25 ft / 7.6 m) Full-Color Night Vision AND Built-in Spotlights| |Maximum Resolution |2K 3MP (2304 × 1296px)|2K 3MP (2304 × 1296px) | |Frame Rate |15 fps |15 fps| TL;DR the 205 have a slightly smaller sensor and less wide angle of view and less bright lens, have 2 IR LED but no light. SO the D210 is better

Used the D210/TD21 and now D230S1.

I have wireless Tapo. No subscription. Records to a micro sd card. https://preview.redd.it/xniqxwfxatoe1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f709ba37673e2c3dfd5640affe6eb3c2490bcab0

r/homeassistantWireless/wifi smart camera's/doorbells, are they really that horrible?

I have a Tapo wifi battery doorbell and it's not great. With person detection on the battery barely lasts so I've got it set to only wake then the button is pressed now which kind of defeats the point. It also doesn't expose a stream to home assistant

Tapu are great. Really good picture quality and you get a fews month of trial. After the feee trial i think its 39 euro for a year to keep the cloud service or you get 7 days recorded for free.

r/homeownersVideo Doorbell w/out Subscription?

TP-Link's Kasa or Tapo devices are what you want. Get a large enough memory card and you'll have 24/7 recording for a month. Great quality video as well. I previously had Ring, Nest, and Wyze doorbell cameras, my Tapo doorbell camera is superior to those.

r/homeownersWhat's the best doorbell camera with no subscription?

Same. I had a bunch of Wyze cameras, but I've moved onto TP-Links Tapo system and am happy with it all. Their Kasa line is also good.

r/AskUKCan you name some good doorbell cameras without subscription fees?

Tapo is good if you don't want to pay Eufy prices, but they suffer from the shortcoming of storing footage on an SD card in the doorbell unless you subscribe. However, the doorbell has an anti-theft mode with a fairly loud alarm, and the subscription is £28 per year for a single doorbell/camera which isn't bad at all.
