Probably going Lite then Standard. The pro model with the screen is over 8 1/2" tall which is a little on the large side for a house. Although I usually tend to go for the better spec'd versions I may hold back on this one just because of the size. I also have another 4k camera that covers the entry way so the drop in quality shouldn't be a big deal really. Anything is better than the Nest Doorbell I had that I wouldn't count as HD at all.

Reolink PoE doorbell and Ubiquiti Doorbell Lite are the current best 2 doorbells for residential use as of now, IMO. Which one to use depends on some factors.

Ubiquiti uses facial recognition and has some license plate recognition as well. They don't store any data tho, but if you want to be super safe with privacy then isolate the cameras from the internet.

At the moment it is Reolink PoE doorbell and Ubiquiti Doorbell Lite. Note both options are PoE. PoE is the best, not Wi-Fi. What to go with really depends on your full camera system. G6 doorbell next year will be the best for residential use, hand down. Reolink could also possibly come up with a new doorbell model, we'll see.

r/UbiquitiDoorbell Lite. It's not THAT big and it's beautiful!!

This is hilarious. Can we just shut up with all the baseless whining about the size of this thing? It's significantly smaller in every dimension than the G4 Pro, a doorbell that everyone seems to love, and it's 1/3 the cost. It's about half the cost of the Ring doorbell, and is .18 of an inch longer, while being .5 inch narrower. It's 1/3 cheaper than, .05 inch longer and .25 narrower than the Ecobee. The only major smart doorbell on the market that's significantly smaller than the Doorbell Lite is the Logitech Circle. And as someone who has owned the Logitech I can testify to its absolute shittiness. It hits a demographic that none of their other doorbells do. People who want a camera and smarts without paying north of $200. It's less than $100, for Pete's sake! Doorbell Lite: 5.4 x 1.6 x 1 G4 Pro: 6.3 x 2 x 1.1 Ring: 5.22 x 2.11 x 1.18 Ecobee: 5.35 x 1.85 x 1.14 Logitech: 4.68 x 1.65 x 1.10

Max power on the lite is 8w and the g6 entry is 16w with the pro at 18 They could have definitely made the 8w lite without any questions run on 16-24vac

Watch the base g6 entry be 299. But the lite is definitely a smart choice of 99$ but the need for Poe only on an 8w device is somewhat rough.

The wild thing is even their basic 99$ one is Poe only ... The target market for a lower to mid range doorbell is likely someone who doesn't have rj45 ram to their door in an older house.

Mine is recording all the time. I have loads of disk space, so why not?

It's my first camera / Protect device, along with the PoE Chime. I find it more "solid" in the connection compared to the three Nest cams I have, which I expect due to being wired instead of wireless. However, they seem less smart. I also miss the notifications that I get from Google Home.

Got the alert, I was in the doctor's office. Was afraid it would be sold out in 10 minutes. Still in stock when I got home, so I got mine!

I have 2 G4 Doorbells and will be replacing one with the Doorbell Lite. The doorbells have 2 settings: 1. When to record - Always, Custom or Never. I have it set to Always. (note that this only enables in conjunction with setting #2) 2. Recording Mode - Continuous, Events Only or Adaptive. I use Events only so it only records when triggered by motion. So if you had #1 set to Custom 7 AM to 7 PM, and someone came up to your door at 7:10 PM, no recording would occur. This vs. Pro: I actually bought a Pro POE a couple months back. I will not be installing it, too big and I don't need a dedicated package camera and fingerprint reader. The use case for the Pro is business facilities and rich homeowners.

Wow. That is a crisp and clean image. Some good reviews of the doorbell Lite released today, and the audio is indeed very crisp. Very excited to remove my wifi doorbell with the long delay when pulling up the video feed or trying to talk.

Obviously it hasn’t been an issue with the G4 Pro doorbell, so why would it now be a problem with the lite doorbell that removes a screen and package camera?
