"The roborock I have kicked and smashed with my foot so many times out of anger when it doesn't collaborate, and still he rocks 4-5 yrs later and no broken parts"
"they are extremely durable. ... I’ve got well over 1000 miles out of a pair and they still have grip and the uppers are in great shape"
"I've used them for 1500 miles of multi-day hiking with no issues!"

"I have the ear shape where in-ear headphones always make a loud bumping sound when I'm moving, so AirPods 4 give the benefits of noise cancelling and great sound without the in-ear effect. ... AirPods 3 always fell out my left ear but they dialed in the size perfect for the 4's, they sit perfect and I've never had it fall out or shake loose doing sprints and a full marathon."
"Took them on a 2hr walk with my dog today and had no issues. First IEMs I can actually wear laying on my side in bed."
"after 80+ miles on our last trip, I was the only one without foot problems of any kind."

"I was quite impressed with its comfort and trail capabilities, and truly believed I had found an excellent shoe for my long runs and hikes. ... the New Balance Hierro v9 remains my top choice for comprehensive trail running. Its superior comfort and, crucially, its consistently reliable grip in varied and challenging conditions make it a more dependable partner on the trails I typically encounter. ... I feel more secure in the Hierro, and that confidence is key. In fact I will be using it for my upcoming races and that says it all."
"The Vibram Megagrip outsole on the Hierro v9 is simply outstanding. Its 4.5mm lugs provide excellent, reliable traction across various surfaces, from dry dirt to slick roots and muddy patches. I've always felt incredibly secure, and it consistently inspires confidence in diverse conditions. ... Great Vibram outsole grip, even on mud and wet rocks"
"The Trabuco 12 have been the best trail shoes I’ve ever owned. ... I’m 6”4 and charge hard over serious rocky terrain…and I feel completely safe in them."

"quick-drying shoes ... all the wetness will be wicked away ... When you get to camp, take out the insoles to dry the shoe."
"Breathability…I ran the last 75 miles of Sedona canyons 125 in May in Arizona with them (and gaiters) and with the Balega hidden comfort socks and never thought my feet couldn’t breathe. It never crossed my mind."
"the uppers are so thin and breathable"

"Additionally they are zero drop shoes which is also better for foot and ankle health and promotes a stronger achilles tendon."

"I did a drying test on both pair last year and found both dry quickly IF you remove the insole when it gets wet or keep them dry and remove them before making a water crossing. ... In the field, I walked through creeks and got my feet totally wet (not on purpose) in November with nighttime lows in the upper 20s. Shoes dried by morning and the insoles were still damp, but dried as I hiked."

"I really appreciated the Altra Lone Peak 4, 4.5, and 5 because they shedded the water with every step. ... Coupled with merino wool socks, on a warm day, I could wade across a river and within about 30 minutes have mostly dry feet."

"It was a total disaster. ... By mile 13, the soles of my feet were two giant blister cushions. ... I hobbled out the next day nearly crying from pain and hitched home, utterly defeated. ... Turns out padding and isolation from scorching hot jagged/sloped black basalt surfaces is important."
"does not cushion at all"
"LP definitely low cushion, those puppies feel like barefoot shoes after 400km in them"

"Also, the grip was really crap, particularly when it’s a purpose built trail shoe."
"outsole does not perform well on wet rock ... I agree 100%, and it's a pity because in all other aspects Saucony makes excellent trail shoes. I just hope they will follow the xodus ultra 4 trend and implement vibram on the peregrines 16"
"I’m not convinced the Zegama is suitable for terrains that are moderate and up in terms of technicality. ... And I’m not convinced they can hold up on slippery surfaces. ... If I’m going to go for a mountain run with small rocks and tree roots, where there might be some damp/water, I’m going to reach for another shoe."

"downhills my feet were all over the place"
"at the end of the day, my feet/ankles ached badly."
"the new mid height are total garbage. ... My favorite part of the speed goat 5 was the ankle support, the new 6 has no ankle support, and simply a water resistant gasket that provides no support. ... So my big gripe is the 6 only comes in 'low' and 'water resistant gasket' and there is no longer a 'mid' option ... 6 only has the weird high sock option."

"Sections of the trail were fairly muddy this time. ... It was there the shoe washed out over and over again. ... The experience was similar to trail running in road shoes. ... There was a total loss of grip. ... We also need to see a shoe with longer lugs and a better lug pattern to give confidence in wet conditions."
"Tried my Ultraventures on a recent high route in wet weather and fell twice on slick rock/moss, they are relegated to cutting the grass now."

"the change was very noticeable on trail running. ... Calf and Achilles soreness galore."
"Altra brand shoes are 'zero drop', so your calf muscles will need to stretch by a quarter inch or so. Do this WELL before your hike by putting 100 miles or so on them, or you will massively, tearfully regret it."
"Not 100% on the 3rd, but if its who I think then we were both wearing Altra superiors a couple years ago at a 50k. ... So I ran for 5 year almost exclusively in Altra and other 0 drop/very minimal shoes. Currently in a walking boot for an exploded posterior tibial tendon with surgery scheduled for next month. ... He said I'm the 3rd ultra runner under 45 he's had to fix in the same way. I know one of the others and she's an Altra fan too. Like doesn't wear anything else. ... Seems like a lot of us who joined the cult have started seeing issues and the market is responding. ... From what I understand its the literal stress on the back of the ankle/Achilles area. ... my body mechanics and the milage I was getting in 0 drops was just putting too much stress on the tendon."

"The toe box seemed nice but even with a solid heel lock, my toenails are falling off for the first time from downhills."
"The Olympus 5 was a no go for me and I bought up multiple pairs of the 4s. Haven't tried the 6, but I heard they did a better job with the heel lock, which was a huge problem in the 5s."

I bought a pair of shoes from Altra they were consider no drop/ barefoot trail shoes. I wore them for two caminos close to 300km of hiking. Also for hiking at home here in the USA Midwest. I just picked up my second pair. They are not exactly the same but I’m breaking them in only had them for a week. They are a wide toe box as well which gave my toes lots of room to move with no blisters either trip. I included a link for the shoe I just bought. [shoe link](https://www.altrarunning.com/en-us/trail/mens-lone-peak-9%2B/AL0A85RG.html)I’m 6foot6inches tall weigh roughly 285lbs (2metes 130kg).
My altra lone peak 9’s have a few hundred rounds in them and going strong. Might not be minimalist enough for you though.
And to be clear I meant the 9+ with the vibrant soles, they are superb.
I am far fatter and LOVE my lone peaks. First hiking shoes with literal no discomfort.
One more YES for Lone Peak. Are you used to shoes with a bigger toe box? If so, they'll be great and you should be fine on rocky terrain. I find the Topo more smurf-like than the Lone Peaks. Too marshmallow-ey for my taste. I think the switch to 0 drop is minimal. I wouldn't over think it, but you'll know.
I feel like altras get a ton of hate. I’m on my second pair of lone peaks my old ones started wearing down faster than I thought they should but they are still my mowing shoes and are holding up alright. My new LP8+ with the vibram though I feel like are holding up great. I’m not a massive mileage guy I feel they’ve held up better than either of the ons I’ve owned.

I am in the same boat with wide flat feet and about 200lbs. I have found the best success with the Altra Lone Peak (although I know you said you didn't want zero drop). The other shoe that has worked for me is the Inov8 Trailfly in wide. They also just released the Trailfly Max if you want a bit more cushion. Both are 6mm drop.
I'm interested in these but don't have anywhere local to try them on. How would you guys say the width in the midfoot is and how's the arch? I have a wide, flat midfoot so I need a shoe that's pretty wide and has low to no arch support. Topo doesn't work at all for me. Right now I'm using the Altra Lone Peak 9+.
I bought the Altra lone peak 9+ for exactly those points you’ve raised and they’ve been great. I’ve worn a lot of altras before and love how they feel. Any time I’ve swapped out of altras I’ve gotten blisters!
The lone peak 9+ so far for me feels like a big durability improvement over the last few Altra trail shoes Ive had.
bugger, I just bought LP9+ to replace my well-worn LP5. Guess I won't throw away the LP5 yet!
Hello, I was very happy with my Altra Lone Pak 6's in wide, unfortunately the new LP9+ had too much heel slip for me. I'm a bit of an ultralight cultist (gearism is nuts) and so I always liked the Norda design and materials, still I always thought they'll end up being to narrow for me anyways coming from the Altra Lone Peaks in their wide version. Does any of you have experience with both Altra and Norda & what you think about the fit? I'm also open for Ideas for great alternatives to the Lone peaks until they maybe 'fix' the LP 10's, I saw Inov8, and I found it kind of sad that Topo did not have 'a proper choice of colours' in their Wide versions. Not so many great wide feet trailrunners, are there? I always liked the light ripstop upper on the older Lone Peaks, the newer is a bit thicker. I saw Norda uses a pretty thin Dyneema fabric, seems like a good choice for a year round or warmer climate shoe. I may end up ordering and trying anyways, just always a little hassle where I live. Thank you! EDIT: Tried on the recommended size + 0.5 and it was a just a little to small and a little to pointy in the toebox coming from Altras & barefoot shoes. Will soon try on 1.5 sizes bigger.
Thanks! I'll keep these in my mind for sure, could happen that the Nordas for example fit me better in the toebox one size bigger, but have too much heel slip again. The Norda 005 seems to have fixed many things (making it near perfect in many ways) in this newest model, but it's a long distance running shoe geared to that purpose, has a way higher drop and bouncy, maybe in some cases more wobbly stability compared to especially zero drop, or the Norda 002's. Could maybe be compared to a mix between the altra olympus 6 mixed with their street equivalent i forgot the name of, just more durable likeall the Nordas. Also nice that it seems the Inoov8 is available in wide in a decent black colorway. But seems like a 'rare' to come by shoe where i live- also online.
