C-Homan612 1.0I’m hoping to get some suggestions from other runners with wider feet. I absolutely loved the original Saucony Xodus Ultras, but I’ve finally run through my stockpile and need to find a new go-to trail shoe. About me: I’m a heavier runner (200lbs) with wider feet, so I need a good toe box and enough room in the midfoot (too snug and I end up with pain after longer runs.) Here’s what I’ve tried recently: * Altra Experience Wild - Good fit, enjoying these so far. * Topo Ultraventure 4 - Also a solid fit, no complaints. * Topo MNT Racer 3 - Too narrow in the midfoot, caused discomfort after a 10-miler. * Saucony Xodus Ultra 3 - Unfortunately too narrow overall for me. * Peregrine 12's (wide) - Good for technical routes and quicker paces. I’m open to rotating a few models for different distances and terrain. I’m curious about the following shoes but am open to other suggestions. Not a big fan of zero drops. Have caused calf issues in the past. * Brooks Catamount / Caldera / Cascadia * North Face Altamesa 500 * Norda 001 * NNormal Tomir 2.0 Would love to hear from anyone with similar need, especially if you’ve found a solid Xodus Ultra alternative that works for wider feet. Bonus points for shoes that can handle longer miles or varied terrain.
Cavendish30 0.5Fascinating. What’s your typical terrain? My trails are far more varied, rock/root/boulder/dirt/gravel so my 12s easily have 300k and my cleats don’t look as worn as yours. Do you use these for lots of uphill grinds on rocky terrain hence all the forefoot wear? I do wear orthotics so I don’t think I get nearly as much forefoot twist, but I’d certainly think it’s a material/laminate construction issue there.

flingtoad 0.5I've run in Peregrines (11, 12, & 13) and I find the Inov-8 Trailfly (The Standard. Not the Speed. Not the Zero (if you're in the UK)) to ride similarly. They're a 6mm drop instead of a 4mm, but they feel very similar under-foot. The mid-sole is on the firmer-side, but with decent energy return. They have a rock-plate. Grip is great where I run (dry, hardpack, a little rocky). Runs on pavement just fine since the lugs aren't extremely aggressive. They have a relatively wide forefoot. I'd size up at least half size, maybe a full size. I've got about 500 miles on mine, uppers are perfectly intact, but horrendously stained because I bought the white ones since I found them deeply discounted. Outsole is more worn, but still completely intact and functional.

Marinlik 0.5I made the mistake of buying two pairs of peregrine 12 a few years ago. Both got warrantied within 100km and both 13 replacements broke immediately as well. Then they replaced them with one pair of peregrine 14 and between all of them together they lasted shorter than my peregrine 10s
mordhoshogh 0.5Also in Northern UK and I run a mix of trail trails and forestry tracks. Saucony peregrines 12 for me, they have the goretex version too.
segafodder 0.512 + 13 were utter garbage when they were new let alone as 3 year old new stock. 15 was back to being great and the 16 is looking similar.
Tintow 0.5I haven't had any issues with my 13's and have over 2,600km on them. I see people saying they are not a good shoe but they've been solid for me. Seems like they're a bit hit and miss. I found the 11's to be excellent while the 12's had rather poor uppers that needed repairing after just 500km The latest 16's look like they should be good with engineered mesh uppers and vibration soles.
MotherBeef 0.2I’d believe it. I love the feel of Peregrines but their quality control/durability is honestly pathetic. I owed 10s, 11s and 12s and whilst Peregrines were never really hitting those 600km+ durability that other shoes got, they tend to be cheap enough to make it worth while. After my 12s hardly lasted 300km I called it quits on Peregrines until I hear there are improvements to their design.
Advanced_Scallion315 0.2j’ai eux la peregrine 12/13 impeccable mais la 14 beaucoup de problèmes ,Saucony n’a pas respecté les tailles,ducoup si fais du 44 il faut prendre 44,5.Problème de frottement au talon même avec la bonne taille.Bref elle n’est pas conçu comme la peregrine 12 et 13 .Pouf moi celle la est un raté
