Okay, i did extensive research on this topic. The cybex T cloud and the maxi Cosi pebble 360 pro seem to be the safest infant carrier car seats. There are a few other that also test quite well in collisions but often don’t offer the recline function. If you want to do your own research, also look at side collision test results. Chat gpt can help you with the test results. Every seat has it’s own isofix and real car seats have their own different isofixes. I don’t think you can mix and match. The seat and isofix you must buy new or use from someone you know really well. Don’t buy them second hand. For a real car seat, same. Check the test results. The weight limit on rear facing is very important. Rear facing is recommended until four yo or 22-25kg. We personally really like swivelling car seats as my partners car is an suv. We are probably going with the growing seat of maxi Cosi (the new one). I would steer clear of doona type car seats. They are very convenient but don’t offer suspension and are often used as strollers which is not good for the infant. They are expensive and not stroller compatible. For me not worth it. Strollers really depend on what it is what you are looking for. On my list I have real tires, big front tires, ventilated moses basket (preferably with anti reflux possibilities), large sunshade upf 50+ and a comfortable toddler seat. I highly suggest going to a big baby store and trying these out yourself. Height of the bar might be a very determining factor as well.

We did start with a maxi cosi pebble 360 pro as car seat. Now we use the maxi cosi emerald 360 s. Our stroller is thule spring. We made these choices because of comfort of both, child and parent, and safety.

FTM, and baby is now 1.5 years old. Spent a considerable amount of money on a pram and car seat that can fit into the pram frame (with an adapter) - thus not a ‘bundle’. Based on my experience I would still buy the car seat that we had but I wouldn’t spend nowhere near enough money that we spent on the buggy - for the reasons that I will mention below… Personal opinion, but if I were to do this all over again and potentially if you’d have more than 1 child: - buy the car seat that you’re happy with and safe for for newborn. We had maxi cosi pebble with isofix and this is a life saver. You can then use this for 2nd baby too at newborn stage up until say 6 months old. - then once baby is long / old enough to move on to the next stage, get a car seat that he/she can use up until around 4 years of age. We opted for maxi cosi Pearl which is the next size up from Pebble. Use the same isofix so just need to buy the car seat. - buggy: you can opt for a buggy that can then becomes a double buggy - hence saving you money in the longer run. But they are typically very sturdy and bulky. At some point in your life you may also want to have a ‘travel’ buggy for travelling that can go into cabin hold for example. I spent a lot of money on a buggy that I really want to get rid of and just want to use the travel buggy now. So consider what you may want to do in the future. Long story short, I won’t be fixated with a ‘bundle’ of the same brands between pram and car seat because it may not make sense / give you the best option. Then on the buggy/ pram - don’t spend a fortune because most people will then opt for a second pram (lighter, travel pram etc) unless you are 100% sure you want a double buggy and use the buggy a lot. We drives a lot and long distance - hence a good car seat is a must. And because most of the time we don’t take public transport or do a super long walk with the baby, the pram / bassinet gets less use than what it was originally intended for. Each to their own. Think about what you need more & most and budget it based on that. Also buy in stages than all in 1 go, even if you have the £££ as more often than not, people’s life change and what suits you today may not suits you 1-2 years from now. Also when we were selecting the car seat, I wanted one that fully reclined for the newborn, yet versatile enough to be brought on the plane whilst also can be used with both seatbelt and isofix. We actually used all of the functionality as I took the car seat with me to asia for 6 weeks and we were travelling to 10 different cities when baby was 4-6 months old. That car seat has been everywhere and was a life saver because he was safe in a taxi, on the plane (we booked him a seat on low-cost airlines that has no bassinet) and because it docked into the buggy then we can move the car seat straight into the buggy if he was asleep. And because that particular car seat can be used with or without isofix, we didn’t buy another car seat for our 2nd car. We just use isofix for 1 car (the main one) and if we need to drive the other car we just secure it using the seatbelt.

I’m not sure stroller compatible + 360 + used lasts while toddler exists. We went for the first two of those three. We got the maxi-cosi pebble 360 with the isofix base. It not only swivels but also pulls out towards you to make it extra easy to access. We then got the extra adapters for the silver cross wave and could use them together. Was really nice when he was younger to be able to buckle him in while in the house and then just lock the entire seat in instead of me having to bend over post c-section to strap him in. We’ll need a different seat once my son is over 13kg but it uses the same isofix base.

Rotating is CHEFS KISS a must !! We got the maxi Cosi pebble 360 ! Baby can even lay down to sleep!! It's perfect

FWIW we've just upgraded to Avionaut Stardust, which does have a separate insert to make it suitable from birth and should last her ERF til 6 then becomes a HBB. *However* - it has been handy on occasion to bring baby into the house in her car seat, which just isn't really possible with the multi-stage ones as they're too heavy. NB we were using Maxi Cosi Pebble with 360base (very handy!!)

first time mom here too, but I thought I’ll share my thoughts. My sister told me to get a baby cot pram second hand and after 6 ish months move to a small foldable stroller and get car seat separately as she could not be bothered with bulky and heavy travel system. I didn’t listen and last week bought maxi-cosi oxford plus with pebble 360 car seat and base. I don’t plan on using car that much, maybe once or twice a week for bigger shopping and I want to be able to just put the car seat on the frame for when I just pop out to the shop. My boot is fairly small but the frame folds flat and is not that heavy to lift in and out. Overall I hope it was a good decision 🤣 but I was lucky to be visiting family in Netherlands and visited quite a few baby shops where I’ve tried plenty of prams on display and got to fold, lift and inspect them thoroughly

We have the Maxi Così Pebble 360 with the rotating base. Pros: baby likes it, one of the most reclinabile ones, the rotating and sliding option are really nice Cons: expensive and super heavy. But I don’t mind that it’s heavy as I just leave it in the car and transfer my baby in the stroller or bassinet!

Depends on the seat I suppose, but they have tested ours which is the Maxi Cosi pebble 360. A quick loo, Joie ispin safe and Cybex Cloud Z2 too.
