Got the Nuna Triv next because it was supposed to be lightweight without compromising features. I hated it. Hate the fold. Hate that it doesn’t stay folded/flops open all the time. Hate the stupid buckles that always get twisted. It was heavy/bulky to me. Getting it in and out of my car just pissed me off. Got the butterfly 2 and am so much happier. Is it as smooth as ride as the triv? Nope but my baby could not care less. If you value easy, one handed fold and a lightweight, well-thought out design (the buckles are so much easier!) get the butterfly.

I saw them both in person today and the folded bugaboo looks clunky compared to the joolz which looks so nice and neat but I’m torn because: 1. Will I be annoyed about the recline having to unzip and re zip 2. Basket size - I could easily put in a whole nappy bag into the bugaboo but really struggled with the joolz 3. I really do like the lighter weight of the joolz tho, especially living in the city where there are so many bloody stairs! So will I be annoyed at the bugaboo because it’s heavier and less portable?!

The Bugaboo Butterfly 2 due to be released September 1 is supposed to have full recline. Global got it but not America. The picture linked above is of the Butterfly 1 so depends on how soon you want it. I really like the Butterfly in store. Proper one hand and easy to maneuvre.

I’m holding out for the Butterfly 2 because of this feature. Do you think it won’t have it like the US?

I tried the butterfly 2 and joolz aer+ and thought the aer+ was better constructed. I bought the aer+, but then literally the day after taking it out, realized the bottom basket was a bit too small, and was a little annoyed by that - and ALSO found out about the joolz aer2, which hadn't been on my radar. The joolz aer2 has a larger basket, so that would've been perfect! I regret not considering the basket, and would've really preferred the aer2, but am (overall) very happy with the joolz aer+.

The Yoyo has quite a complicated fold. I'm not really sure why people love them so much, I assume it gets easier? Can't really comment since I'm just researching myself, but from my personal short experience with both I much preferred the Butterfly 2

Uppababy minu 3 and bugaboo butterfly 2 both have lie- flat positions and are small enough to be carried aboard a plane. The butterfly has a bit longer seat back & a bit more space under the canopy. In the US, the butterfly is not considered ‘from birth’ because it doesn’t have an enclosure by the legs like the minu, but in Europe and elsewhere it is. It is ‘lie-flat’ enough, just missing the enclosure. There are loads of comparisons online to compare the two - they have super similar specs :)

It’s tough because it depends on your lifestyle, and the two things you (and everybody) want are pretty much at odds. You can get a lightweight stroller, but it will have pretty mediocre suspension so a bumpy ride especially if you go on long walks with crappy sidewalks. Or you can get a smooth ride stroller that can carry all your stuff and easily keep your baby asleep in the bassinet as you push it through your neighborhood, but it’s going to be heavy and bulky. So either you get two strollers or you pick which one of those sounds better to you. We went the two stroller route. We have the UB Vista 2 which we used as our only stroller when baby couldn’t sit up on his own yet. He used the bassinet for a couple months and then the infant snugseat. Now, we use this for our daily walks and it generally stays at home. We put it in the car if we’re going somewhere like the zoo. We also travel with it if we’re going to a city where we’re going to be walking a ton. Yes it’s bulky to travel with, but it’s so worth it. For our lightweight stroller, we have the Bugaboo butterfly. I wouldn’t recommend this as your only stroller, but it’s been a great supplementary stroller for us. We travel with it when we’re going somewhere we aren’t going to be walking a ton (e.g. grandparents house). It stays in the car for running errands and short outings. I do like the Butterfly but I wouldn’t recommend it as your only stroller because it doesn’t work for newborns. I think the Minu does so I would maybe consider that. And I wish it were able to sit up a little straighter. For my lifestyle, if I had to pick one, I’d go with the workhorse heavy stroller. But others may feel differently.

I really like our travel stroller (Bugaboo Butterfly) to keep in the car for quick errands but it’s not great for going on longer walks on pavement. It’s not newborn compatible, it doesn’t recline nearly enough for that. If you do any serious amount of walking outdoors I’d definitely consider getting a full size stroller separately from a travel stroller. We use both all the time. Personally I don’t think a one hand fold is that important. If I’m getting it out of the car, I just get the stroller out before I get the baby out. If I’m at home, I get it ready before I pick up the baby. I’ve never really needed to fold my stroller while holding the baby.

I like our Butterfly well enough, but I do wish it sat up a little straighter. Not sure how the Minu compares on that front. Do you have a Nordstrom near you? I’d recommend you try them in person if you can (even if you later buy it from Fb marketplace) as there may be something that speaks to you in one over the other.

We have the bugaboo butterfly and while it’s fine for travel and quick errands, it’s not great for neighborhood walks or longer outings like the zoo. The suspension isn’t great (true of any travel stroller), less comfortable for baby (in particular the butterfly doesn’t let him sit up that straight and also doesn’t recline as far), less storage, etc. That said I know it’s a luxury to have multiple strollers. If you don’t want to do that I’d maybe go for something a little beefier than a travel stroller though.

I think that unfortunately these two goals are at odds. Travel strollers usually don’t have the suspension or wheel size you’d want to navigate rough terrain. We have the bugaboo butterfly for a travel stroller which is pretty similar to the Aer. It would be miserable or impossible to use on cobblestone. When we go to Europe we will probably take our Uppababy Vista. It’s huge but it rides so smooth and is going to be so much more comfy for baby napping on the go, etc. Sorry I don’t have good advice as I don’t know of a really good option in this category

We have the Butterfly and the Vista. If we could only have one, we’d pick the Vista. If you only ever use the stroller for errands, travel stroller is probably fine. If you ever do zoo, park, longer walks, theme parks, travel stroller is not as good. Smaller basket, suspension struggles with cracks in the sidewalk, less comfy seating/recline options for longer use. But it’s great for running into the pharmacy real quick or for taking through the airport.

If you have access to a Nordstrom I’d highly recommend trying them in person. They’re both great strollers but something might just speak to you for one over the other. My husband just liked how the handlebar on the Bugaboo felt so that was the tiebreaker! But there might be something different for you.

Most infant seats can be used without the base, so you’d bring your seat with you and use it in the rental car with the seat belt installation, no need for the base. You can get a car seat backpack to help you carry it through the airport. If you’re lucky, there will be an empty seat on the plane and the gate agent can help move that seat next to you so you can bring the car seat on board the plane as well. For stroller, you have a couple options. Can you get away with not using a stroller? We baby wear a lot so for some trips we don’t bring the stroller at all. You can check your stroller for free so it doesn’t necessarily need to be a travel stroller if you don’t want. We have checked our huge Uppababy Vista a number of times and are about to do it three more times in the next month. We do have the travel bag for it so if it gets damaged, UB will replace the stroller for us. There is a risk of damage when you check the stroller which can be a hassle. If you want a travel stroller, you’ll have more limited options with a 4 month old, because they won’t be able to sit directly in the stroller seat for a regular stroller. You’ll have to get a travel stroller that is either newborn-ready (e.g. has a near flat recline), can have the car seat attached, or has an infant accessory like a bassinet. Not all travel strollers will be able to do these things, so you’ll have to decide which option you want and go from there. We have traveled a lot with our baby and we have three main modes: - Going to grandma’s house where we’re just going to sit at home all day: no stroller - Going to a big city where we’re going to be walking around all day: full size stroller (Uppababy Vista) - Standard trip where we’ll be driving around a bit and maybe going to a museum or park: travel stroller (we have and like the Bugaboo Butterfly but I’m not sure if it can attach a car seat. It’s not newborn ready) For any of the three options, we bring our car seat along as well and usually we are able to bring it on the plane with us for free.

Bugaboo Butterfly 2 is an amazing stroller. If you’re comparing to the Minu v3, I’d go Butterfly all the way. It feels higher quality and looks nicer to me… but that’s entirely subjective. The fold and unfold is easier in my opinion (the Minu I tried at Nordstrom kept sticking), and the Butterfly 2 seat is WAY more upright which is far better for an older baby/toddler. The only advantage to the Minu v3 to me is the newborn capability if you need that.

I haven’t done it myself but have read about people using babycare.nl and babyjungle.nl to order the Joolz Aer+ and Aer2. Shipping costs more, but you don’t have to pay taxes so it sometimes works out the same or cheaper. I don’t see the Butterfly 2 there now but I swear it was there a couple weeks ago lol. I ended up ordering from Amazon because I needed a travel stroller fast. I actually returned the Butterfly 2 and got the Yoyo3, but only because my husband said the Butterfly was too big and the Yoyo was on a good sale. I love the Yoyo for travel but if I was looking to replace my everyday stroller, I’d 100% choose the Butterfly.

I have a bugaboo fox 5 and as much as I love it (plows through snow and slush like nothing, 2 wheel mode lets you drag it through sand/goes up and down stairs) it sucks for putting in the trunk with the toddler seat. I do quite a few errands and taking it in and out of the car drives me insane. Obviously I’ve gotten used to it and have tricks now that make it a bit easier, I really regret not getting a smaller stroller. I tried the UB vista and it was just as big and bulky. Bugaboo just announced an updated travel stroller for the butterfly (butterfly 2) that has bigger wheels and a few more changes and honestly it looks so convenient to fold and open. Now that baby is bigger I’m not taking the car seat in and out and the toddler seat is just so annoying. With just the stroller frame and using the car seat was so so convenient but now that I’ve converted the bassinet to the toddler seat it’s harder. It folds with the seat but it’s so difficult to lift into the trunk (I have mother’s wrist) so I remove the seat then fold the frame separately and place both in the trunk. I do think now there isn’t one stroller that fits every need so I’ll probably keep the fox 5 (I love the way it looks - it really is the smoothest more effortless push, have pushed her with my finger tip) for one errand days, walks/trails, and bad weather days then get the bugaboo butterfly 2 for multiple stops. Ps I used the bassinet quite a bit with my September baby all through the winter).
