Baby Jogger - City Tour Series

Maybe check out the baby jogger city tour 2. It’s travel friendly and light. There are adapters for a baby jogger or graco infant seat. It doesn’t have a bassinet function but does lay flat with adjustable calf support. I was a nanny for family who had it and while I didn’t take it on hikes, I had no issue pushing it on non-paved park trails. If I was you, I would purchase a stroller that meets your other needs and then decide later if you still need a more heavy duty stroller for hiking.

See if you can find a used Baby Jogger City Mini to use for your trip and resell afterwards (or keep!). I got one for free second hand from a coworker. Didn’t think much of it, but MAN can that thing handle all the bumps and crazy tree roots in our neighborhood. We can take it on trails even. It’s slimmer than our main stroller (Nuna Tavo), less storage space, but handles amazingly well. Our Nuna is actually terrible at getting over tree roots or uneven sidewalks.

I went with uppababy vista for our first baby because we planned on having more kids and the options to expand made sense for us. Highly recommend. Price tag is worth it and then some. Now that I’m on baby number two (3yo and newborn) I’m using the whole set again, except swapped to a Nuna car seat because I gave my Mesa to a friend who is still using it so another friend gave me her Nuna ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It is NOT travel friendly. We lugged it on a trip when my son was 10 months and it was a hassle. We bought an umbrella stroller (baby jogger city tour2 in costal) immediately after that trip and never looked back. Another word of caution - it has a large footprint so you need the storage space for it. We keep it in the garage or tucked into a corner of our dining room if we have to bring it in... but it’s definitely not for compact spaces/ small cars/ limited storage. Also note - I use the bassinet on a stand in my bedroom as baby’s sleep space for now and will transition her to our crib in the existing nursery when she’s ready and my son is settled in to his “big boy” room (he’s still in the nursery with a toddler rail on the crib).

I went with Baby Jogger City Tour 2 because it's really compact, we've had it in the overhead locker on several Ryanair flights. It was also half the price of other travel ones I looked at. It lies flat for naps and nappy changing on the go and we just use a Snooze Shade when required because nothing I found had a canopy that was good enough. If you go somewhere very sunny there are also points of the day where no canopy will really do the job. It's a travel stroller so the wheels are obviously not going to compete with something like a Nipper, we also use Out n About at home but it's been completely fine for trips including cobbled Italian streets. I just love that it lies flat and goes in the overhead locker so we can use it the whole time at the airports.

I have the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 and love it! So lightweight, it has a nice fold, and my Graco car seat snaps in with adapters (sold separately). I think they have some other brands' car seat adapters too. Edit: I got mine as an open box on eBay, and it's in great condition and was around $100. Don't be afraid of open box or second hand!

We have a Baby Jogger City Tour 2 travel stroller with the adapters for our Graco carseat, and we use this combination for almost everything. It's great for car and air travel, but also just as a small around-town stroller. It's great for bringing into casual restaurants and places like breweries and food halls, and also great for shopping trips. We also have a Graco Modes Pramette that we got second hand and use that with a separate bassinet attachment (the convertible seat/bassinet is pretty wobbly so we don't use it anymore), but since it's pretty big we only use it for walks around the neighborhood and don't take it along with us when we drive anywhere. We did this once and it was a PITA and barely fit in my SUV! Now we just take the baby jogger everywhere, and now that my baby is 3 months and can hold her head up better, we feel comfortable using the baby jogger in the recline mode (it's not all the way flat) if we don't keep her in the carseat atrached. She's still too small for being strolled around in the baby jogger alone without the carseat (she's tiny and the stroller straps are still pretty loose on her), but eventually we'll use it as our only stroller and get rid of the Graco one.

Definitely invest in a good pram first since they generally last longer and more sturdy but I would get it second hand. Not worth paying thousands of dollars if a second hand one does the trick! I initially wanted the bugaboo but I couldn’t justify myself paying thousands of dollars for brand new one and I felt awful asking my parents to buy it since they were offering to buy a pram as a gift. So we decided on the steelcraft which we had no issues with and used it up till bubs was about 3 then we purchased a travel stroller (baby jogger tour 2) to travel overseas.When I was pregnant with my second, we saw a second hand bugaboo for sale and purchased it. No regrets at all and I did a lot of research on that specific model and they are the best in my opinion for “off roading”. But it all comes down to how many kids you are planning to have, their age gap, and how often you use the pram/stroller. Our kids are 4 years a part so getting any double pram was useless since our 4 almost 5 year old (15kgs) would be too heavy for the second seat anyways. Most prams seat limit are probably between 17-23kgs so keep that in mind and check the limit. Prams are good for going on your daily walk or big trips like to the zoo or a park since it will be easier to push on uneven ground, more comfortable and generally have much more storage compared to the strollers. Strollers are great for travel and bigger kids. We used it when we had to run to the shops quickly or going out for lunch. Something easy to take out quickly but can be purchased later down the track.

We also purchased the City Tour 2 over the Aer +, Butterfly and Yoyo. From a price point and reviews the City Tour 2 was a better pick. I would recommend watching The Stroller Workshop on YT of the strollers you are after and even read the comments that how we ended up with our stroller! FYI - the City Tour 2 did not fit in the overhead compartment but we gate checked it (Singapore airlines).

I was given a used Baby Jogger City Tour and it's really great; It totally saved us on a trip to visit family 5 hours away, and was easy to pack because of the size. This one is in the travel stroller category (folds like a suitcase size, versus an umbrella stroller with 2 handles that folds long and narrow). I'm really happy with it, and I'm happy to have it over the classic umbrella stroller.

Seconding this! We bought one at 10 months for a trip and it is now our daily pram kept in the car. We still use our larger pram for local walks to daycare though. I think most travel prams compromise a bit on uneven surfaces (grass/gravel) but we’ve had no issues on paths for walks and the very occasional off-roading.

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 is a good in-store option with full recline - Baby Bunting will price beat Amazon which tends to have it a slight discount. We’ve used ours for multiple international trips, never a problem carrying it on. The only downside is the basket is a bit small.

It does not have a decent sized basket at all (but I’m not sure any true travel prams do?) but the baby jogger city tour 2 is great for tall kids. My tall 2.5 year old still fits very comfortably in it.

I’m just going to be honest, I think the bassinet attachments are a waste. Most strollers will take a bucket car seat with an adapter, and the stroller bassinets are so expensive to only use for a few months. We got the Chico key fit bucket car seat and a baby jogger city mini stroller. Love it. I also suggest checking out wirecutter reviews for baby gear. You’ll get 100 different opinions on here, and it’s nice to see a neutral review of things like durability and price point.

We got a secondhand Baby Jogger City Mini for a trip to Florida – definitely not rugged terrain, but the stroller was durable and comfortable (and I read that these are the ones Disney rents out at their parks for those reasons, but can’t confirm 100%). More importantly, I’d suggest going secondhand because it’ll likely get beat up in transit. You can also get a travel bag to pop it in at the gate to help keep it clean.
