Would you consider oled? I replaced my trusty AW3420 with a same size oled panel and it's one of the biggest leaps in quality I've ever had.
I recently got the same monitor couple months ago and been enjoying it but been getting some lag as well especially in no man's sky. I have a 5-year-old alienware r11 pc with 3080 intel i9 and 32gb ram and have alienware aw3420dw and never really had much issue with lag and was playing dead island 2 and had some lag and lowered my fps to 60. Tried playing no man's sky yesterday, and it was unplayable because of the lag, and wondering if I need to adjust the dlss as well?
Switched last week from an AW3420DW to the Samsung and its a blast. Color is in my opinion a lot better and for work (VSCode) the increased height is great. My poor 3080 though struggles a bit, even in CS2.
Currently have the 2018 34-inch Alienware and it's probably time to upgrade. There are good OLED options in this same size, but more vertical pixels would be nice. Not sure 45 inches is right, but would love to check and see how the curve feels for first person shooters. Worst case though, the dual mode will come to the rescue. Seems like a great solution.
I have a aw3420dw since 2020 and the only game that had problems with supporting 21:9 was monwilds
I tested those Dell’s side by side. The most noticeable is the outer 5-7cm. With 1900r it’s a good read. With the 3800r i had the feeling i had to move my chair 20cm to the left or right.
Yeah, I have the OG one, non OLED, and it still works great. Much like yourself I'll be waiting another year. I'd like to upgrade to a screen with higher PPI.
I love my AW3420.
I almost decided to pick up the AW3425DW as an upgrade to my AW3420DW, but once I saw CES' offerings for the new panels with an expected release of Q1 this year, I held off. It's looking like the new panels will have the RGB-Stripe configuration for better text clarity, a higher screen durability/scratch resistance that puts it on par with most IPS displays, and some models are supporting DP 2.1. If you're looking to buy now, I'd choose the Alienware; if you're willing to wait a little longer and save a little more, I'd see what these new monitors are looking like!
Yea i have the older version too and it is incredible and I have zero complaints or plans to replace it until we get some kind of monumental shift in monitor tech that makes it obsolete. It is as perfect as I have any need for.
