Check for PBP - Picture by Picture, as a feature. It allows you to connect multiple systems eg: work laptop and home pc and have both inputs displayed side by side with various sizes of your choosing eg 50:50, 70:30, 30:70 etc.The Dell Alienware ultrawides that I checked recently have it. I am using this feature on my AW3425DW.
I recently got the Alienware AW3425DW on sale for $680. I use it exclusively for gaming and it does the job very well. My only qualm is that it isn't as bright as id want it to be, but closing the curtains solves that issue. I wouldn't say that its an absolute game changer, but it fills your peripheral vision more which makes gaming more immersive. keep in mind that 1440p ultrawides are 3440x1440p vs regular 1440p monitors being 2560x1440p, so they are a bit more demanding to use. I have a 5070ti which is a little more powerful than your 4070ti, but it gets pretty high fps in most AAA games so in your case if you're fine with turning down a few settings you should be fine. If you really want to make sure, I would look up some benchmarks on youtube with your pc specs
Oh yes totally, got the aw3425dw and its a beast, couldn't be happier. Once you go ultrawide you never go back
Its up to you, but I was looking at this monitor a few months back and decided to get the aw3425dw instead, since its QD-OLED and has less of a curve which is my preference. Funny enough, I got it on sale for exactly $680. Check it out if you haven't already
AW3425DW is frequently on sale for $650-700. But go check it out in person before purchasing it to make sure you like it. Side note: ultrawides aren't the best for anime content consumption or console gaming as neither of them take advantage of the monitors 21:9 aspect ratio . If those are really the only two things you plan to do with it, get a 16:9 4k monitor instead.
I’m a bit biased because I went with that exact AW model, but I’ve been thrilled with the thing since I got it. Only got it recently, so as far as long-term reliability I can’t say, but thus far it’s been wonderful for gaming. I got it on sale, so I’m not sure how it stacks up at full price, however.
I like that Alienware model. Just got it a couple weeks ago, and it’s kinda mind-blowing (first OLED and UW). Recommended.
Adding my voice to the Alienware love. Same monitor and am super happy with it, and for the same reasons. 👍
Got the same monitor on sale a while back and I freaking love it. Highly recommend. 4080 super barely noticed the jump in resolution. It’s great.
Switched from 4k to that exact monitor and it has been one of the best decisions I've made. Gaming has become more immersive than ever before.
I had the MSI 240Hz and sent it back. Instead I went for the Alienware 240Hz OLED. It’s cheaper and I didn’t need the KVM or 90w charging.
I don't know how your eyes manage it guys. I like my monitor between 20-30% brightness, that's plenty for me on an OLED. OK if you want HDR then you turn brightness up but HDR is still non existent, it's just not worth switching it on for gaming purposes. Oled panels look incredible in a dark room
Disclaimer: I'm definitely a "victim" of the "IPS is far superior" notion that is/was the rule-of-thumb. VA could actually be pretty good nowadays, but I don't really have access to any in person so I'm definitely biased against spending money on a VA panel. I had the same problem when my Gigabyte M34WQ died, just to realize that it's evidently discontinued and couldn't find anything else. I ended up with an OLED, the AW3425DW. My wallet was not happy. I must say though, I don't notice any fringing unless I'm \~20cm away from the monitor, specifically looking for it. The only reason I know what that is is because other people talk about it. I see no issue at my normal distance. You could probably try visiting a store and actually looking at one. It might not be an issue for you neither. I'm a full time dev, so I just removed the taskbar from that monitor specifically to lower any chances of that burning in. > Why do you think there's been a slowdown (perceived maybe) of IPS panel releases? Buyers don't care, I guess. I suppose those looking for ultrawides fall into two categories: productivity, who don't really care that much for the benefits of IPS, especially when cost is factored in, and gamers, who are going OLED. It could also be that VA panels have improved a lot to where most won't even really notice the difference that much.
I have the exact same monitor as that guy, and the fringing never bothered me. it's noticable, but subtle and doesn't get in the way of clarity much. however I would still recommend Mini-LED because it has no risk of burn-in
It really is a great monitor. The only drawbacks are that it isn't oled and only 120hz but I can understand why those features aren't worth spending hundreds of dollars on an upgrade.
I bought LG 5k2k, aw3425dw and LG c5 42". I'm keeping the C5. I think im brainwashed tho. Already have c9, c1, c2 and they all have dead pixels. Lol. The aw3425dw, was flickering when using gsync. The 5k2k curve is aggressive and i have 3-4 monitors set up. Didnt have issue with blurry texts with any of these. Was gonna keep the aw3425dw but 2nd monitor with OLED kinda bad, the burn in. I think the LG C series is the better deal. I dont play competitive fps.
