Smearing and ghosting is essentially a drawback all VAs have, because of the way they display the picture. Same goes for shitty viewing angles on TN and burn-in on OLEDs. No matter how good the technology gets, it can be mitigated, but not entirely solved. TL;DR: all VAs will always have ghosting. Maybe something like this: [https://a.co/d/bfXe6ur](https://a.co/d/bfXe6ur) I'd still try to get an IPS, it's the best technology there is. I've had an OLED for a year now, I'm babying it, still no burn-in, for now. I have this model: [https://a.co/d/gGlpcVZ](https://a.co/d/gGlpcVZ)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Are higher end VA ultrawide monitors any good? ->I have a oled 34' uw from LG and I like it a lot! I tried 32' 4k ips on a Lan party side by side and liked the uw format a lot more. But I recommend to test both yourself as it seems to be quite the personal choice
r/OLED_Gaming • 34 ultrawide 3440x1440 vs 32 4K. ->I would love to see this in a slightly smaller size. I have the ultra gear OLED 800r curved in a 34” and I think it’s perfect.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->The DWF is good but I’m not a fan of QD OLED turning magenta in the light. I would go for the 34” LG OLED and just get used to the curve I’m using the new Asus tuf 34” 180hz VA and it’s very good for the price. But still not nearly as good as an OLED. Not the best response time and the black levels are much better than an ips but still not at OLED level. I love 21:9. Once I step away from it I always crave it again.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I wanna try 21:9, convice me please. ->For under $1000 you can just get a 34 in OLED and it’ll be the best viewing experience you can have. No smearing, HDR, and you get super fast response times
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Recommendations on 34" Ultrawide IPS within $1000 ->That’s overblown. Idk anyone with burn-in and I’ve had my lg oled for 2 years no burn-in.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Recommendations on 34" Ultrawide IPS within $1000 ->I only have experience with the LG ultragear oled panels and they're incredible. Amazon and best buy have some awesome deals on 34"and 45"ultrawide panels right now. I think the 34 inch LG OLED panels would be within budget. I have the 45" version and the monitor is awesome
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Just discovered this community and new to Ultrawides as well, can someone help me with my specific situation? ->I've got the Dell 5K2k 40" at work and it's amazing, but I love my 34" 2K 240hz OLED at home for gaming because the 5090 gpu needed to push games at 5K2K is way out of my budget. 5K2K ultra wide is better for productivity and less demanding games imo.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • What’s with the 5K2K hype? ->I'm not OP, I gave up on 49" (the MSI model listed by OP was my favourite) due to the inability to split it properly (game+internet/movie requires either windowed, or 2 cables with loss of gsync/hdr/hz) and the too anecdotal curve (1800R). I ended up buying LG 34" Oled (see my flair), and now I want to make sure I don't burn it. It's a 2024 model like the MSI but doesn't seem to have as much protection as MSI. I set my other monitor (non-oled, for now one of my dell u2415, soon probably a LG 27GS60QC) as the main, and it holds the taskbar as well as all desktop icons. The Oled either displays wallpaper (switching every 20 minutes because I set 10 & Windows is dumb and switches 1 monitor at a time) or games. Games include static UI (don't they all have some anyway ?!), MMO (gw2) or not (Hogwarts Legacy atm), but never for long uninterrupted periods, as loading screens or opening the map happen on a regular basis.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Need help picking a 49"curved (gaming) monitor ->Oled's have come a long way and the burn in is not an issue for productivity.. if you're running a news channel 24x7, then it's not for you. If you keep switching between tabs, then you should be fine. I'd recommend the LG 34" woleds or the samsung qd led if you want glossy screen. If you really want an ips screen, then LG has a nano-ips panel but for that price, you might as well get the 2024 oled's on sale!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best non-OLED ultrawide ->I have this monitor and the VRR flicker was very noticeable in Oblivion. I could make it more manageable with framerate caps, settings, etc. However, I just turned off VRR completely and I've been loving the panel.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • AW3425DW Review ->I normally do play with vsync, however I've had it off a few times and never noticed any tearing. As far as my understanding goes, tearing is a very case by case basis dependent on different hardware configurations and games, so if you prefer VRR over Vsync to limit tearing, I'm not sure OLED would be your best panel solution. I will say though, I've played multiple hours on the monitor every day since I've gotten it, and I love it so far even with VRR off. VRR was the only thing giving me any trouble, besides having no 3.5mm audio out, but that is a design choice on their part, not a natural flaw in the panel design.
