45” may just be the sweet spot. I use a 49” G9 and a 38GN950 which are both brilliant but in the middle could be a great compromise

I was running a 34GK950F for a few years before transitioning into my current 38GN950 + LG DualUp setup. I would love to see if a 5K2K GX9 is the holy grail to replace it. My wife also has an LG 32" Ultrafine w/ ErgoStand that I sometimes plug my laptop into. I never experienced OLED monitors before. I do around 60% coding/design and 40% gaming.

I use the LG 38 gaming specific equivalent 38gn95b. It is and has been an excellent monitor. I highly suggest this one. 5k2k takes a lot to drive while 3840x1600 takes less to drive than 4k. I use it mostly for work now, but I used to use it for gaming and it did that very well. I would not go super ultrawide for work. Once you go beyond 21:9, you are better off with two separate monitors for multiple reasons. You will see the difference in the refresh rate as well.

My LG 38GN950-B died a couple weeks ago, and thankfully I still had my secondary top ultrawide (which sadly is only 1440p) but the lack of vertical space is severely missed. Why did manufactures ditch this resolution? Was it just not popular? I loved it!

Just randomly stopped receiving power. LED ring on the back would show up, no picture, no OSD. To be fair, I did get like 5 yrs of daily use from it.

I have the WR85. The panel is nice and plenty of connectivity. KVM is a nice bonus. If you don't need KVM and the ports aren't a deciding factor just go for the GN950 IMO.

In that case the extra money isn't buying you anything of value. Get the GN.

I wonder why no one talks about the size in between. I have an LG 38GN950, a 38” 3840x1600 ultra wide and it’s pleasantly better than the 34” 3440x1440. It’s quite the sweet spot between the smallest and largest UW screens.

It’s the 38GN950. Pretty sweet, has an ambilight feature, 160Hz and 450 Nits. No KVM though, but Ali has good solutions for that.

Love my LG 38GN950 - but thinking about OLED sometimes, the display of my Lenovo Yoga is just too awesome…

I’ve been using the LG 38GN950 for the last few years and it’s been great. Recently I attempted to switch to OLED and replaced it with the Asus PG32UCDM which was ultimately a failed experiment and was subsequently returned. While the blacks and colors of the OLED were great the HDR was lackluster and the constant black screens were a deal breaker. I’ve been waiting for a monitor in the 38”-45” range that offers similar or better pixel density than the PG32UCDM. I believe this size, pixel density and a refresh rate of greater than 160-175hz with an 1800-2300R curve to be the sweet spot for gaming/productivity. I’m somewhat skeptical of the 800R curve in the monitors of the last few years as they are immersion focused but may lose their productivity benefits but I have not used one first hand for an extended period of time. The bendable version seems as though it could tick all of the boxes while providing the flexibility to switch between more of less curve for gameplay immersion rather than productivity.

OP I feel your pain there. I love my 38GN950-B - it's great!! I think the 39", 40", and 45" 5120x2160 screens are basically the replacement going forward.

It's also a reasonably bright monitor (brighter than the OLEDs for sure), which was a requirement for my work (in front of windows) setup.

I made the stupid mistake of selling my AW3423DWF a month ago to move to 4K 16:9 (MSI 322URX), not even 24h after receiving the MSI I regretted it and returned it. Luckily the AW3425DW came out at a very decent price (At least here in Europe) and paired with a 10% discount I grabbed it for 777€, so not a huge loss after all. I am simply not going back to 16:9, I love Ultrawide way too much. That said, I do miss my old LG 38GN950B's resolution (3840x1600), if they ever release an OLED with that size and resolution, I am jumping to it right away, I think it is the PERFECT size and resolution for overall productivity and gaming combined.
