How is it for work? All previous OLED monitors i tried the text was not sharp enough. I have the LG 38WN95C-W which is great for work but not games. Do you like it overall?

Bad timing, Samsung Australia just finished an EOFY sale including monitors. I have and like the lg 38wnc monitor. Great for productivity with some extra vertical height (1600px) and good for gaming with up to 144hz. Not oled good but still good. I was very tempted by the lg oled 45 with 5k2k res, but it’s expensive and not sure how it would be for productivity. If I didn’t care about gaming the dell 5k2k 40 inch looks great but it has slow response times, so not useful for gaming.

r/ultrawidemasterraceAre there ANY good 40-45” OLED ultrawides that have a curve gentler than 800R?

OLED: Not currently. I did get one of LG's woefully under-rated 38BN95C-W monitors on sale for $850 a while back (3840x1600, 144hz nano IPS). About as close as you will get currently. Not perfect, but i dont ever remember that when i'm playing games on it. The picture is brilliant, and the size/curve is amazing. The adjustable curve model is about the only replacement i'd accept over it now. Tried to like the ultragear 3440x1440 OLED model in the same size but the pixel density was noticeable to me.

I've been using ultrawide monitors for 10 years now - 2015: Samsung S34E790C 3440x1440 60Hz, VA panel - 2019: LG 34GK950F-B 3440x1440 144Hz, IPS panel - 2024: LG 38WN95CP-W 3840x1600 144Hz, IPS panel and I really like the productivity gains I got with them. On my current monitor a browser window and IDE window can easily fit side-by-side.

I'm probably a niche user. I use MacOS for productivity (document preparation/emails/web based SaaS applications - not coding) during the day and Windows for gaming. After months of looking at various ultrawides I purchased the 38WN95C-W and am seriously having buyers remose with the release of the new 45" OLED monitors. Things that concern me about the 45" inch - (a) the curve, and (b) whether 45" is too wide (c) OLED text fringing. I couldn't find any LG OLED's on "display" so ended up sticking with LCD to be on the safe side. For me the "sweet spot" would be: ✅ 38/39" OLED ✅ 5K/2K (ideally a PPI for retina but I don't think the technology is there yet at sizes over 27"). ✅ 1800-2300R curve. Basically the 39GX90SA with a resolution bump and less agressive curve and keep all the other features the same. Nonetheless, I'd still love the opportunity to try the 45".

This is seems as fantastic option for productivity+gaming! As someone who struggles to find a good OLED monitor with USB-C support for my MacBook Pro, I’m really excited about this one. As a developer and designer, I think it’s going to be a perfect fit. I’m currently using the LG Ultrawide 38WN95C, which is one of the best monitors I’ve ever owned. I just wish it had a higher resolution and faster refresh rate—and still allowed for seamless plug-and-play with my MacBook Pro. The new UltraGear 45GX950A seems like it hits that sweet spot. Good luck to everyone out there hunting for the perfect display!

This monitor has my attention...wishing it have 1800R (or 2300R) curve and it would be instant buy for me. When it comes to 1500R I am not convinced that much...of course it is far batter that 800R but currently I am using 38" (LG38WN95CP) monitor with 2300R curve and it is very ok for me and I don't have feeling that I need more bended panel.

If smearing is truly your fear then LG 38wn95c or 38wr85qc are your best bets. These would be safe options.

r/ultrawidemasterracebest ultrawide monitors 2026 for work and gaming what should i consider
2 months ago

I’m work fully remote as a data analyst and have been using an LG 38WN95-C for a few years now. primarily work/productivity but also some gaming in PS5. I’ve had several ultra wides and been very happy with this one and believe 38” with a light curve is ideal for office type work. Compared to a 34”, the extra screen real estate is primarily vertical rather than horizontal, which helps a lot with reading long Slack threads, emails, coding etc. Additionally the light screen curve helps relieve eye strain when working long hours. I’ve owned a flat ultra-wide before and the relief was noticeable. I believe LG has the sweet spots in terms of curvature, 2300R for 38”, 1800R for 34”. Anything more aggressive than that can potentially feel weird outside of pure gaming. The [new version of this monitor](https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-38wr85qc-w-ultrawide-monitor?srsltid=AfmBOorfib0rqZ1uBM-ZhOGXP6y02Db3BLE1y7LKp73hMV2as0_uXPK69Qk) is just out of your price range but I’d highly recommend if you can swing it. The price jump from 34 to 38in is significant because it’s just a less common size. Otherwise I would suggest 34” IPS 1440p don’t go 1080p on 34in you won’t save much money. As far as brands, LG is a stalwart and they make the panels that most other brands are using. Dell has good warranties.
