So I’ve used a lot of these monitors and I’ll give my two cents. If you are all about productivity. The Samsung is great for that, but if you’re going to game on it, you need a beefy rig and lots of space. I also find that it’s extremely buggy with HDR, so if that matters, buyer beware. The curve is good on that monitor, but it’s also super super long, the edges will require you to turn your heard. I just got the LG5k2k last night and honestly I love it. The curve is great, but I would say for productivity it might lose out to the Samsung. For gaming it’s great though. 240hz is vastly overrated unless you are top end competitive gaming, but I can’t really tell the difference between 165hz to 240hz. You can always wait, but also depending on where you live tariffs might be a consideration on waiting. That’s why I bought when I did.

The Samsung is using a later generation QD-OLED panel.

I got cupons for 49" g95sd oled 2024 smart one, not regretted it, infact I cannot go back to miniled (had 49 neo g9 mini led before), oed gang was right, but, I would be lying if I said I wasn't wishing for a 57" oled variant ofc. Actually, lowkey want a 48:9, maybe with proper micro led with rgb if not oled, but that's a long way into the future ofc...🤣

Thanks for all the congratulations. This thing is glorious. I’ve never owned a smart monitor and that this thing has so many options via smartphone control and built in apps is insane. Dead by Daylight runs at 240hz and 120fps using my setup. It is so choice. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend you picking one up.

I don't quite get the gaming only comments - it's a monitor with a resolution of 5120x1440 that also happens to run at 240hz, Super recommended for gaming AND general use.

It's so honking huge I don't even see the curve to be honest.

G9 is still the most sold 32:9 monitor, but i wouldnt call it the king. there is too much personal preference when it comes to monitors to even crown any monitor the best. there are a lot of people who really dislike 32:9 and also many, like myself, that really dislike 800r curve. than there is WOLED vs QD-OLED and Matt vs glossy. its a whole religion already and guys will debate for hours and hours only to agree to disagreeing. for me, i tried matt WOLED for a few months, switched to glossy QD-OLED and couldnt be happier. every single little thing that bothered me just disappeared. but that doesnt mean its the same for everyone else.

great review. i also tried WOLED and 45" 21:9 800R, but until now nothing beats the G9 OLED for me. i love the curve, picture quality of QD-OLED and also 240hz is a must-have. we are sitting in the same boat and have to wait for a Samsung 57" dual4k OLED version i guess. btw, the first picture is why i just love 32:9... you just see so much more of the game and sceneries are so damn beautiful. only downside is compatibility and having to tinker around to get games to run in that aspect ratio.

i would also never get a WOLED again, QD-OLED is just superior in basically every aspect. switched from an LG WOLED to the samsung G9 and the picture quality of QD-OLED is just so much clearer and better. (i am really picky when it comes to displays, so im definitely not the average user and ive been selling TVs for the last 18 years, so ive seen basically every tech stage from ctv to oled with all their ups and downs over the years)

I took the plunge and bought a g9 oled(G95sd) and I bloody love it. Primarily for work, but I've gotten a couple of games to play fairly nicely at the full 5kx1440 resolution on a 2070super. There's a few minor gripes I have like the OS is a bit lame, and the fact that PIP doesn't seem to exist, it'll only do side by side from 2 sources rather than overlay a smaller window like I'd hoped, but these are secondary to how bloody good the image looks. I'm constantly on awe at it.

Get the 49" Samsung QD-OLED, it has 1800R curvature (pretty flat) and great text clarity, perfect for productivity work. G95SC is the original and G95SD is the newer model from 2024 but the only change was the anti glare coating. If you have a lot of glare in your room get G95D otherwise the G95SC should be lower price. I use powertoys to create 4 equal windows and will combine middle 2 windows as needed. Do not get the Samsung micro led monitors in 49" or 57", they have unavoidable QC issues eventually. Hoping and waiting for QD OLED 57" announcement currently. EDIT: Wanted to mention - you'll need a DisplayPort 2.1 GPU to run the monitor at it's native 5120x1440p @ 240hz: **AMD – Radeon RX (RDNA 3 & 4, Desktop)** * Radeon RX 7900 XTX * Radeon RX 7900 XT * Radeon RX 7900 GRE * Radeon RX 7800 XT * Radeon RX 7700 XT * Radeon RX 7600 XT * Radeon RX 7600 * Radeon RX 9070 XT (RDNA 4) * Radeon RX 9070 (RDNA 4) * Radeon RX 9060 XT (RDNA 4) **AMD – Radeon Pro (Workstation)** * Radeon Pro W7900 * Radeon Pro W7800 **AMD – APUs (RDNA 3 iGPU, DP 2.1 exposed via USB4/Type-C or OEM DP)** * Ryzen 7040 series APUs (e.g., 7840HS, 7940HS, 7840U) * Ryzen 8040 series APUs (e.g., 8845HS, 8645HS) **NVIDIA – GeForce RTX (Blackwell, Desktop)** * GeForce RTX 5090 * GeForce RTX 5080 **NVIDIA – RTX Pro (Workstation, Blackwell)** * RTX Pro 6000 * RTX Pro 5000 * RTX Pro 4500 **Intel – Arc (Battlemage, Desktop)** * Arc B580 * Arc B570

I've been working with a 27" IPS as my main screen and and an older 25,5" HP next to the left, which is about 27° rotated. I use it mainly for productivity (web/software development and design work for several hours a day) and gaming. To step up my screen game I ordered the Samsung G9 G95SD 49" OLED. Amazing image quality due to the OLED display, but not optimal text rendering and noticable color shift. For this size, 1800R is just not enough. The screen felt too narrow in height and I had to move too much to the sides to read whats there. I sent it back and am now looking for an alternative. Samsung has an 57" 7K2K (1000R, VA panel) and LG has the 45"5K2K (800R, OLED). Whats your opinion on the two screens? 5K2K OLED is in its infancy - Should I wait until 2026 and new products? Thanks!

Yeah, some a picture of the G9 57" and you could clearly see on the sides (up / down/ left right) that the colors were washed out, like a TN panel. Main reason why I don't want that monitor. From my understanding, there are no 4k OLED UW. Between: ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD and Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SD) (1440p) monitors, which would be better?

Thanks for the review—really appreciate it. I was a bit worried about how the matte coating would feel coming from the Samsung G9 QD-OLED, since I’m used to that glossy punch. I think I’ll probably hold off for now and wait until someone brings out a QD-OLED 5K2K.

I was going back and forth between both as well, but I’m leaning toward the 5K2K. I’ve got the Samsung G9 OLED right now and honestly I’m just so over the 32:9 form factor. That said, I’ve been holding off because CES is around the corner and I’m really hoping we see a new model with tandem tech and 240Hz. Just not sure if I should wait or pull the trigger now.
