I would absolutely recommend one. I lived in a small apartment with my boyfriend when we got 2 cats, and our vacuum was also corded and bulky, which definitely made us dread vacuuming and not doing it quite as often as we should. We ended up getting a Dyson v10 (Woot has sales on Dyson vacuums all the time, so it was <$300) and LOVE it. It worked so much better than the older vacuum we were using at the time, and it makes getting it out and using it *so* incredibly easy, so I was vacuuming all the time. My only concern was that it might not cut it once I bought a house, which I did 3 years ago, but I'm still using it as my vacuum! It honestly works great, and it has enough charge to vacuum both of the two stories of my house. I actually got a hard floor vacuum head for the downstairs since the floor is vinyl there, and it works fantastic on that as well. **Edit**: I'll add that my parents, who would always have the most ridiculous and hard to use vacuums ended up getting a cordless one as well - the Wyze cordless one, which is a lot cheaper than a Dyson - and they love theirs as well (and they even have a fairly large house to vacuum, plus 2 dogs - 3 when they initially bought it).

I’ve had two. The Dyson v8 absolute. And the 10. Both are spectacular batteries have never had an issue. Have dogs and 4 girls. If you take care of them they take care of you. Clean them out once or twice a year. Sorry to hear about everyone’s bad luck. Maybe I got two well made ones not sure. But we used both daily and never had a single issue. Going on 8 yrs and they both still run great. Still same factory batteries. Old one went up to our camp when we bought the new one. Used the one at camp 3 weeks ago not a single issue. Sorry you all hate Dyson so bad but I’m on the other side on this one

I got the V10 after asking a similar question here and I’m obsessed, it’s great! And someone here said it’s better to have one with no display as it may cause issues.

I love my cordless Dyson cyclonic. I bought it from Dyson directly, refurbished for about $250 with taxes. It works better than the brand new one of the same model my mom bought from Costco for double the price. It works as a handheld and a full vacuum. The suction is incredible. Minimal parts to clean and the parts you do need to clean only require water and a toothbrush for a few hard to reach areas. I can remove all of my dog’s hair from the couch within seconds. I would absolutely buy it again.

I have had a V10 for 6 years now. I love it. It doesn't have the swappable batteries so that is a limiting factor. It works amazingly well otherwise. You are able to unscrew the battery and buy a Amazon battery and just swap them that way. They don't lock in place but the friction fit holds the battery in place. At this point the original battery doesn't last more than 5 minutes but the Amazon battery will last a while and only cost like $40.

I love my Dyson V10 stick. I have a cat who sheds like crazy and it gets it all up. I bought mine on sale a during the lockdown. I had an in-house vac in those days and a much larger townhouse. My black cat's favorite place to play was on my off white stairs. During lockdown I was doing all my own vacuuming and it was hard at my age. My steps were looking grey from Emma rolling down them as she chased her cat toys. I tried the Dyson V10 because it was on sale and it changed my life.

When I originally purchased the V10 I was in a 3 floor townhouse with a mix of hardwood and carpeting. Now my condo is about the size of yours. With all hardwood floors and some rugs. I run it on max power especially over my Oriental rug which seems to collect most of the cat hair. I do like you do, alternating days to vacuum different sections. There are times when the kitchen is all I vacuum after cooking. The stick vac is great because where I am now the storage is very limited. I just happen to have a plug in my storage closet so that is very helpful. I hadn't heard of the Miele before but will check it out if this one should go. I know my cleaning lady loves Dyson. She brings her smaller one when she comes every other week incase mine doesn't last the entire time.

The ball version Dyson is a beast. I purchased a Dyson stick V10 and was very disappointed with both battery life and performance.

Get a Dyson cordless. They don't clog, but they're kinda pricey. I think mine is the V10 and it has been a game changer with the hair.

I have a Dyson V10 about 2 years. Soft roller head is great for hardwood floors, instead of plastic wheels would drive me nuts. I got the Dyson over the Miele stick vac because the Dyson can eject the dirt over the trash can so I don't need to spend 30 min cleaning out the canister and the crevices in the canister. The dyson has a ring that pushes out the lump of dirt into the trash can.

r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->
