"I only had a single problem with my Roborock S7. ... A pipe burst while we are away and the poor thing tried to vacuum a inch of water. ... I replaced the vacuum module and it is working flawlessly 1 and a half years after the incident. ... The fix was 12 dollars and 2 hours of my time."

"Things been daily vacuuming my room for 4 years with minimal maintenance."

"price of replacement parts is a huge reason i recommend sebo vacuums."

"Suction wise I think it's even better than S9+. ... I think it's great. ... because I feel this cleans better than S9+. ... 705 I find does a better job of vacuuming carpets than even the beast that was S9+."

"did a fantastic job of vacuuming pet hair ... happily being busy getting up the pet hair ... I love this thing despite its flaws."

"when hardwired with their power kit the parking mode never misses a motion event."

"We have four roborock S7’s running in our 5,000 sqft office. ... Bought them since they first came out years ago. ... They run every day. ... Only last year did we replace the battery for all 4. ... Other than that, no issue at all, rock solid, very pleased that we also have them for our homes too."

"My Roborock S7 does about 2,000 sqft twice a week since 2021, and it's still going strong"

"I live in a 2700 square foot cookie-cutter tract house. First floor is laminate with an office that has carpet. Then there’s the stairs which leads to 5 carpeted bedrooms, two tile bathrooms, a laundry room, and a walk-in carpeted closet. I can get all of that done one charge."

"being cordless and effective for what I need. ... For some the tradeoff for cordless, no bags, good suction, etal means we vacuum more than we otherwise would. ... I never would have thought I'd defend a near $1,000 cordless vacuum but I got one as a gift and will never buy anything different now."

"One thing I really love is how it came with two batteries. ... Never have I ran out of a charge."

I think my gen5 with fluffy laser is awesome. All of my floors are solid surface. I use it all the time, and the laser lets me see where I need to clean.

I had the Dyson outsize, it croaked after several months and Dyson didn't have a filter for it, so they upgraded me to the new gen15 outsize. The thing costs about 2x, is more powerful, comes with a second battery and and amazing cloth roller head with a laser light that makes dust and debris glow. Never had a vacuum that worked so well. Return only took about 2 weeks. Very pleased, just hope this one lasts...

Dyson Gen5 outsize. The only thing that has pissed me off is that I've had 2 of the vacuum heads fail. Dyson has had no stock to replace them for 12+ mths and have to send you a new machine. The only caveat is that you have to send your own vacuum back prior. It's wildly inconvenient.

r/dysonWhich Dyson cordless vacuum is actually worth it?

Gen 5 outsize but beware their customer service is horrible, one of the worst ive experienced to date. Its been outsourced to india and they use weaponized incompetence in order to make your life as hard as possible during any warranty issue. Ive been 1.5 months without a vacuum now because theyve approved replacement but the warehouse team cant seem to figure out ship it out and the supervisor CS person doesnt have a direct line to them.   7 hours wasted on the phone so far... My hourly rate is higher than price of the vaccum so id be better off just buying one but im gonna keep pestsring them till i get my warranty replacement out of principle. Im currently using a Ridgid shop vac as a hold me over. Coincidentally it works super well and is much cheaper while have superp customer service lol Dyson CS has gone so far down hill I remember having an issue 7 years ago and they still had US based cs. The phone call lasted 10 minutes and I got my replacement part in 3 days .... How far theyve fallen. If they were publicaly traded Id be shorting their stocks at this point.

I have a Dyson Gen5outsize Absolute and it's amazing. I use it on the bed too since she likes to lay up there. It came with a free pet grooming kit you can attach to the vacuum so when you brush them the hair gets sucked up at the same time. I know you said you didn't want to spend too much but definitely worth the investment.

Idk I bought my Gen 5 Outsize Absolute at an auction for $198 and its been great over the past year. I use it everyday and rotate between the two batteries. It still sucks the same as the day I bought it.

Dyson got their new pencil vac. Pretty light if that’s your main criteria. We go the gen 5 personally and it’s been good

I got the Gen 5 (slightly older model) for Dyson recently. Don’t think it’s sold now. Should be V16 as the newer model now. Still dyson really beats all. The green light detector is a game changer. In terms of suction power, ease of use, and sound generated, heat generated, not to mention the hepa filter. I think Dyson is still the best. Was previously using all different brands like xiaomi, Electrolux, shark, plusminuszero, Iris Ohyama, etc (don’t ask me why we tried so many) Had an acquaintance who do acoustical engineering for the products. Their R&D is serious business.

I don’t have any experience with their V8 so idk, (it’s quite an old model I think) but the gen 5 I got (my first Dyson) is still decent so far.

Hi, If you’re attached to your Dyson Ultimate Animal that you mention then, why not keep it and just find replacement parts for anything that has broken? I’m not entirely sure where you’re getting your information about Dyson’s decline from but they most certainly haven’t moved their manufacturing to China. Most, if not all, of their machines are manufactured in either Malaysia or the Philippines. Also, manufacturing things in China isn’t inherently a bad thing, the phone or computer you most likely typed this on was made in China. Dyson materials haven’t changed and neither has their design philosophy. The use of plastics/polymers instead of metal doesn’t immediately make a machine less reliable, there polymers are a blend of different materials that are tested for the strength and durability. Have Dyson machines gotten more complex? Absolutely! Do people hate that? Also yes! Dyson’s support, in my opinion also has degraded. People complain about it due to them not getting what they want. Dyson machines work flawlessly for many years if you maintain them (key point). This is the part people refuse to accept and is what causes a lot of the complaints about quality. There is nothing inherently wrong with them, it mostly falls down to user error or neglect. If you want a good quality vacuum that will last you a life time then get another Dyson. Their updated Ball Animal range is probably the greatest vacuum on the market for Carpets. If you want cordless then shell out for a Gen5. Unfortunate you’re not going to get the Dyson experience/ease of use from any other company. They’re far ahead of anyone else in their field and actually put a lot of research and development into their machines unlike the majority of their competitors. At the end of the day, are they a perfect company? Absolutely not. They have very much gotten things wrong in the past and made mistakes in some of their designs. The important thing to remember is that they’re constantly improving what it is they are offering. Also, if people want to argue with me about the quality/reliability of Dyson machines, I would advise you actually take a look at what it is you’re complaining about and work out whether it’s caused by user error/neglect or if it’s a genuine issue.
