"It’s is SO MUCH more quiet than the s7 it ramped up the suction power from 4000 to 19000 yet I can let it clean my office room while being in a call now."
"Extremely quiet compared to our last one to the point where we can have it running while my partner is in work meetings (besides emptying water and dust bin, but that is 10 seconds of loud x 2)."

"I’ve tried my families Miele canister when I lived with them and never got the hang of it. ... How do you manage the canister? We have a small space and based on my experience it seems like I would trip over it. Even when I tried it in a bigger place I still carried the canister around which was super annoying just to not trip on it ... The space is small enough that it has dead ends without enough space to turn around by pulling the canister. Is there a way that same concept can still be applied? We’re talking bedsides with only 1.5’ space, 4’ hallway with a litter box at the end, 5’ kitchen width with dead end."
"it’s a little unwieldy to drag it up and down stairs ... a pain in the ass to drag up and downstairs every night"

I second the corded / bagged for whole house (got the advice from this sub). We have a husky and 2 other dogs, so I vacuum the whole house 3x per week and have a cordless baggless hand vac for spot cleans in between. The Miele C2 Classic Pure Suction I picked has done great on our vinyl plank + area rugs. Use the handle "valve" to make it possible to quickly switch to being able to do rugs without the vacuum picking them up and dragging them. The suction power it has took some getting used to after switching from a regular upright. It doesn't blow dust and fur around while I'm using it because it vents upward rather than out the sides. I don't have to wash the filters or the cannister and scrub out the nooks and crannies like I do with the hand vac. New bags come with new filters - put in new filters every 4 bags or so. It's pricey (not compared to a Dyson though), but it'll last 10+ years even at the rate I use it. Plus it's small enough that if you take the hose and handle apart, you can store it in a cupboard rather than needing a closet. My only thoughts are that I'd like a light on the floor head for better visual of areas that still need covering and I wish I had gotten a version with a powered roller brush for the large rugs or if we move to a house with carpeting. But that was another $200 for something we may or may not need. Overall, I'm very pleased with the investment. I know this sounds shill-y, but I promise I'm not paid, didn't even get a discount. I just really like good vacuums.
miele is like a bmw but they do have an entry model thats like a honda, i would check out the [c1](https://www.amazon.com/Miele-Classic-Suction-Canister-Graphite/dp/B07P97CD5T?&linkCode=ll1&tag=davidcollin0b-20&linkId=1aa0bf91b07c3e2204e8fa044dc7d1f7&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl), really good suction, reliable af, something you can count on for years.
We recently moved into a house with mostly hardwood, and our old bagless vac just wasn't cutting it. It was losing suction and felt like I was just pushing dirt around. So, after some research, I decided to splurge on a [Miele Classic C1](https://www.amazon.com/Miele-Classic-Suction-Canister-Graphite/dp/B07P97CD5T?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=mymy011-20&linkId=3cc50033dc15ced6aed9f36050f0f176&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl). I grew up with bagged vacuums and figured I'd try one again. The main selling points for me were the "pure suction" and the fact that it was recommended for hardwood. Honestly, I wasn't thrilled with the floorhead that came with it. It had this vinyl strip that seemed to drag on the wood. And it was a disaster on our cotton area rug, even on the lowest setting. I ended up with a ton of lint and a roughed-up rug! So, I bit the bullet and ordered the [Miele SBB 300-3 Floorhead](https://www.amazon.com/Miele-Parquett-Twister-SBB-300-3/dp/B001F9Y9FC?crid=3P4IQBA1MXXAL&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.NzYe_QVCfnfkAgVYBeKZZQ6kNwYsx8op_WSLJF_M_bOxyN09LQubTLRQYC3FgyGIjcFYF6ml5EtpiRSDsX7WBKI0K1QBRtkDCsR9cCxqhOuSJogyJ7ZnhI4tCaWKTBAkpmJs-DTwTht8b-vE-qCwgzLRObXtt8XrHQuOC1k52cI_kZPesXc6HaeAyAlyNn7eCnED-Utt26oIsY0zaGZ0xlu1_z0aH9prhu5Ye9U1DVAjEWcZKqlzav49WP-0GB-xNcaoZlmE82ZzytDRZg_62hYRbbMKKGs65lUa5rnNXsKiJJpWtGvYF_2-rPYs7YGUgdTEL7RCMCvQX7Qv8vBeULP_YNSyzxxgfDjFhaVN39uOVFjSGqhdVI-nwZdyNw-4XGo89beTx9z_Xd6VCU5dwdr-3gh9Odtoc7NZ8y1MgLdsWaD_SrfXkapuN12oT-vh.Dz7tnCFRxRFIE35TzEXVBuPpAV922isfHF1XigBkmMA&dib_tag=se&keywords=Miele+SBB+300-3+Twister+Parquet+Floorhead&qid=1742767298&sprefix=miele+sbb+300-3+twister+parquet+floorhead%2Caps%2C1036&sr=8-1&linkCode=ll1&tag=mymy011-20&linkId=744a3b3acc5d3c09d8b573ba809cbd17&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl). Pricey, yes, but worth every penny! It glides across our hardwood and tile like a dream, and the floors have never been cleaner. Seriously, if you have hardwood, get this floorhead! Okay, the total cost with the extra heads is around $425, which is way more than I've ever spent on a vacuum. But, I'm really happy with it so far. The suction is great (I barely need to use the higher settings), it's lightweight and easy to maneuver (a huge plus for me with a bad elbow), and the build quality seems top-notch. Plus, the attachments are easy to swap out.
A straight suction Miele can last 20 plus
Depends if you want a powered brush for carpet/rugs, c1 very short cord, so c3 or new guard series in miele or k or e series on sebo, e3 has powered head, e2 includes a torbo air powered head for rugs , and e1 just straight suction
I’ve sold Miele for over 25 years. I’ve never seen that before. Why don’t you just let them give you another hose
surprised not to see [Miele c1](https://productbible.com/blog/best-vacuum-cleaners#miele-classic-c1) at #1, that seems to be the one constantly being recommended here
Sorry but you won’t get BIFL with those. A pure suction Miele C1 can be found at the $300 mark. If your carpet isn’t insanely high, the air powered carpet head would be just fine for your small amount of carpet. If you really want BIFL (and something that a vac shop will be able to repair and get parts for if something does happen) then realistically you need to go with a Miele, Sebo, Riccar, etc.
A lot of people on here work in vacuum shops, either managing them or as technicians repairing vacuums. We are all telling you that Shark / Dyson are garbage and you have to spend a fair amount to get a decent vacuum that will last you 4+ years. If you have all hardwood floors or some very low pile carpet, get a SEBO K2/E2, or a Miele suction only model. If you have carpet that is fairly high pile, you are kind of forced to spend a decent amount for a E3 or K3 type vacuum. If you don’t want to spend that much, Kenmore makes some halfway decent vacuums like the Intuition or Pop N Go that are fairly affordable with an electric head. I don’t know why most of your replies to people are you arguing with people whose literal job it is to work with vacuums about what is good and what’s not.
If you buy either expect to be spending another 450 on a new vacuum in the coming years. Look into a suction only Sebo or Miele if your rugs aren’t high pile. For Sebo check out the K2 or E2. For Miele look into a C1 pure suction
What’s your budget and flooring? If you have any medium to high pile carpet you’ll have to spend a little more, but if you have hard wood/low pile carpet you can get away with a suction only Miele or Sebo K2/E2 that will last you 10+ years
If you’re spending 800 on a Dyson just spend that on a Sebo or Miele and you’re good for 10+ years lol
100% hard floors = simplicity Jill. Or a Miele C1 Pure Suction (upcoming sale will put it at $279 and is absolute worth it)
Miele C1 Pure Suction, Sebo k2 Kombi or Henry 160. If you plan on getting another low pile rug anytime soon, look at the turbo versions of the above.
What pile are your rugs and how big? Ask your parents what is more expensive - a new vacuum every 3-5 years. Or 3-4 bags a year ($5/ea) that Miele should last you 15-20 years with proper care. Uprights aren’t really meant for hard flooring either. Do you guys have a Miele dealer nearby? Take one for a test drive. Seeing is believing imo. It’s hard to put into words how quiet and powerful they are.
What pile are the area rugs and how big? A turbo team is never a bad idea with rugs. But the pure suction is on a great sale right now. You can always add the turbo head later if you want better cleaning performance on rugs. A Sebo k2 kombi or k2 turbo is also worth looking at. Same with a Henry 160 or xtra
Yes I’d definitely avoid cordless/bagless. They’re junk for the most part. What kind of budget are we talking? A Simplicity Jill is a great budget option if your rugs are very low pile. You can always add a wessel werk TK286 if you need more cleaning power for the rugs. Check out a Miele C1 pure suction or turbo team as well.
You’re on the right track. Miele C1 pure suction or Sebo k2 kombi since you only have rugs. You can always add a turbo floor head later if needed. See if you have a local dealer so you can test drive them before buying. Btw your wool rugs sheds like crazy because your Dyson was likely destroying it.
Avoid Dyson and shark. Honestly you want something corded and bagged if you want it to last and actually clean well. For the price of a V7 you can get an excellent Miele C1 pure suction. It’s in an entirely different league than these crappy box store brands.
Miele C1 Pure Suction without a doubt. It’s corded and bagged which is the gold standard. Once you get some rugs (keep them low pile) grab Miele’s turbo floor attachment.
Miele C1 pure suction. Short of that, simplicity Jill.
Don’t ask here. Ask r/vacuumcleaners If you’re seriously about not wanting hair to wrap you’ll need something much more powerful than a cordless stick. They use a smaller diameter brushroll which actually encourages wrapping. What’s your flooring like? If it’s hard floors only you may even want to look at a “straight suction” machine (corded and bagged) like a Miele C1 Pure Suction - they don’t have a brushroll for hair to even get tangled on which is ideal for hard floors.
For all hard floors and hair, you want a vacuum without a brushroll. Check out the Miele C1 pure suction, Sebo K2 kombi or Henry 160. And if you find it’s not working well on your carpet/rug you can always add the turbo head.
No carpets or rugs? Miele C1 Pure Suction without question and about $650 in your pocket.
Check out r/vacuumcleaners As mentioned Miele and Sebo are top brands. You can safely ignore any shark or Dyson recs. They’re garbage. As is anything bagless.
Vacuum wars is a paid shark shill and not to be trusted. Hell Chris even appeared in a shark commercial. BIFL vacuums absolutely exist. They’re corded and bagged made by brands like Miele and Sebo.
Miele, Sebo or Lindhaus. Check out r/vacuumcleaners
This is the answer! You can still get a Miele for only hard flooring.
Agree with J3ttf! The Miele is a worthy splurge!
If you don't mind bagged vacuums, there's the Miele C1 Pure Suction, but there should also be a Miele C1 Cat & Dog version which has a brushroll head. While dyson vacuums are fine if you stay on top of maintenance, bagged vacuums from brands like Miele, Sebo, and Lindhaus are built better and typically last much longer than any bagless vacuum. Bagless vacuums just aren't built the same. There are a large number of benefits with the bagged system as well, with the minor downside of periodically buying bags. Also cordless vacuums won't last as long either, you're paying a premium and they're typically bagless as well. If i recall, Lindhaus has some impressive cordless vacuums with a great battery system if you want to go that route but it's expensive.
These are great. And they're so light compared to other canisters.
I just want to add to this that mieles are only really heavy if it's one that comes with a power head. They're 10 lbs lighter without. I have a C1 classic that's one of the lightest vacs I've ever used.
To be fair I actually find the cord on mieles to be just a bit too short for most houses where I am (I like to be able to find a central plug in on each floor that will allow me to get at everything without unplugging). I believe they're 25 feet. My Kenmores is 30 or 35 and many commercial vacs are 50. Mieles are also only light if you get one that doesn't have a power head, once you add that in to the mix the canister weighs an extra 10 lbs and the hose also has some extra weight to it. I have a c1 classic I use for an office I clean and I love it but I have a c3 cat and dog that I was using at another place (before the handle snapped) and it was so heavy and the hose was awkward compared to the one on the other miele. I also REALLY hate miele power heads, the motors in them are really weak imo . Like I want the power head on my vacuum to pull itself along at least a bit and theirs do not.
Miele C1 pure suction, paired with the parquet twister floor brush as an add on, well worth the extra cost. Super powerful suction and airflow, plus the brush can move smoothly while reaching into the various uneven parts of the surface to loosen and sweep up debris. Plus it's a generally really good quality vac and excellent for other jobs to boot. Just not great for a lot of carpet. I think it would be a good choice and the canister plus extra brush is in your budget.
The two C1 models are nearly identical canister wise. The motor, suction, etc are going to be the same. The real critical difference are the hose, wands, and tools. The basic C1 has no rotating brush. It is suction only, and will probably struggle to remove pet hair from your rugs. And it'll be completely inadequate if you get carpet in future. The cat and dog model includes an electrical outlet on the vacuum, a hose with built in wiring, a wand with built in wiring, all to run an electrically driven power brush. This is really great to have for cleaning pet hair off any carpets or rugs. Also works great for removing deep embedded dirt from higher pile carpets. That added wiring is what drives up the cost. But trust me it's worth the upgrade for cleaning the carpets. It'll also future-proof the machine in case your flooring changes. The cheaper C1 not only doesnt include any of this equipment, it cannot be upgraded in future. You'd be stuck with suction-driven attachments only.
There are several different ways you could go with this. What would you consider a "long" hose? Smaller carry-able canister type vacs like an oreck shoulder vac could work. Though they aren't hepa, and personally not a big fan of them. Small bags, small motors, bit noisy etc. Slightly bigger machines like a Miele C1 would be great, they are pretty lite but more capable. Hose might not be long enough for leaving the canister on the floor and climbing a ladder to reach high up for example. But for filtration and suction, great choice. Similar in size and characteristics would be a Sebo K or E series machine. A Numatic Henry is a personal favorite of mine for whole house dusting. The hoses are a bit longer than average, the tools are good, and the extention tubes themselves have a nice trick. Unlike most canisters where the curved extension part is the hand grip, and then you place the tools at the end of the straight tube section, with Numatic vacuums you can reverse that. You can put the curved end of the extension at the end with a tool attached while the straight section is what you grasp while cleaning. This gives you the perfect angle for ceiling fans or the tops of moldings and picture frames. Downside with a numatic is the weight and possibly bulk, they aren't very small or lite and might be a struggle to carry around. There are several options as you can see. Depends what you want to prioritize most I think. And side note, I think an extension hose can be bought separately and attached to any of these machines for extra reach if the default length isn't sufficient. Sebo themselves sell an extension hose. Numatic might as well, otherwise I know aftermarket extra long hoses are avaliable for Numatic machines. Miele you'd have to get a little more creative since they don't really sell one themselves, and they use a larger than average diameter. You can get a 35 to 32mm adapter and then attach a genetic extension hose to the miele hose. Only annoying thing is then the miele tools wouldn't fit at the end of the extension hose, so you'd almost need a duplicate attachment set.
Well firstly if "sleek" looks are important, all you need to do is go look at used bagless vacuums. They look grimy and awful after a few month's use usually. The bins get covered in grime and cloudy. I always found the dyson advertisements amusing where people have them mounted to the wall in the living room, knowing how they look after some use. Ease and cleanliness of maintainence is another point to make. With something like the miele c1, you just throw out the bag when full. They compress the dirt down so they effectively hold way more debris than a bagless vac, then when it does get full, it's clean to dispose of. There's no dust flying around coating the outside of the vacuum itself. The bag acts as the main filter, so you are essentially replacing the filter each time you empty it. This means no filters to constantly bash the dust out of or wash. The other filters on a bagged vac don't get caked with dust, so they only need swapping out occasionally and won't spill dirt all over when removed. Basically, you don't have to think about vacuum maintenance nearly as much, or worry that the vac is losing performance because of some hidden filter somewhere loading up with dirt. And the vacuum itself doesn't end up looking like a dusty mess nearly as much or as quickly. What floor surfaces do you have? The miele c1 lineup is generally pretty good but some models don't handle carpet as effectively.
The airstorm, while good, is no better than a miele or sebo. I wouldn't pay the premium. Mieles and sebos are also sealed to trap dust. They are also more modern in design and easier to use (they have cord rewind while the air storm does not). There's nothing really bespoke about the airstorm. Underneath the top shell, the power nozzle is the same as ones avaliable for Miele models. The hose and other tools are generic off-the-shelf supplies etc. While it would probably last you a long time and do a good job, you might resent using it. I'd strongly suggest you try one in person before choosing, and frankly I'd save money and go with a nicer to use miele/sebo.
