The space is small enough that it has dead ends without enough space to turn around by pulling the canister. Is there a way that same concept can still be applied? From Miele, Triflex HX2 Cat & Dog, or the Triflex HX2 Pro. They have around 60 minutes battery life, automatic flooring detection so it adapts to your hard floor in terms of brush bar power, the Pro comes with two batteries which is probably a bit overkill for a small flat, whereas the pet comes with a motorised brush bar pet tool, which the pet tool I can’t say wether it’s good or not because I don’t have that. I just know Miele do some very good quality and long lasting vacuums that everyone raves about. From Dyson, considering you’re in a small flat, you’d probably be best with the V12 Detect™ Slim, it has a smaller dust bin but would be fine in a smaller space, it also has 60 minutes run time, adaptive cleaning which changes suction according to how dirty an area is, the green light is brilliant and so much better than just a white headlight (as gimmicky as it sounds) it really does light up the dust, and the pet-like tool (it’s called the hair screw) has not once had hair around it on mine (and we have 2 long haired people and 3 cats), it’s always hair free because it’s cone like design the hair works its way down the cone and gets sucked up, I love the hair screw tool. And also I wouldn’t worry about changing from corded to cordless despite what people say, it’s the difference between a good and a bad one, the bad ones only last about 20 minutes, my Dyson boasts 60 but I can get a good 90 mins out of it, and if you’re in a small space then it will be ample anyways, I live in a 3 bed rather large flat with hard floor and carpet (and the carpet uses more power for suction and brush bar speed) but I can get everywhere done and still have battery left.

Miele Duoflex HX1 gets generallly positive reviews; in what sh!t country do people hate on Miele? I'm a satisfied owner of three Triflex HX1 but I'd prefer the higher suction of the Triflex HX2

I’m loving the Miele Triflex HX2 Pro. Great power, comes with 2 batteries so you never run out, but the only thing is it would depend on your litter. I think it would do great with sandy litter but not so great with crystal litter. It has problems gliding over bigger particles. It’s also beautiful and well made.

Update - we’ve been using this vacuum in my 1000sqft hardwood floors apt and am disappointed in the build quality and the lack of customer service. Within 2 weeks of occasional use, a small wheel broke off the main floor attachment. We tried to reattach it but it kept falling off and eventually lost the extremely tiny axle that supported the wheel. Then the floor attachment started scratching our floors and degraded on one side completely. After calling Miele 10+ times, emailing them requested photos, and starting from square one each time (in addition to getting disconnected/hung up on a number of times), they informed me that because I purchased from Amazon, they are unable to help me at all. Now the vacuum is revving all the time when it shouldn’t be, which leads me to think it’s defective. First of all, WHAT? I purchased a legit machine made by Miele with a serial number and warranty. Why would I have to go through Amazon for after-product support? I asked them why do they even have a warranty then? They were SO RUDE and unaccommodating. They then suggested I take it to the “nearest service center” which is 20 miles away. I’m in metro Chicago btw—I pass like 20 authorized dealers every day. When I googled one that was 1.8 miles away, they admitted I could go there as well. Then when I called the service guy he said the problem was I don’t have more than one vacuum and that the HX2 should only be used for “occasional” cleaning. 😣 All I wanted was a replacement part and now I’m stuck with a brand new faulty vacuum. Any thoughts on what to do next would be much appreciated.

This is the one I most recently got Miele Triflex HX2 Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner, 120 min runtime, Infinity Grey PearlFinish / Rose Gold. The other one I still use is the HX1 but no longer sold. I think mine had a spare battery that upped the price and there might be different model levels or Black Friday sales that would make it little less pricey!

Haha dang that’s even a splurge for the toy. Yeah the one I got most recently I think my husband said was around $1000 🥲 but honestly if you can go up to a higher price point to get a product that will be longer lasting in my opinion it’s worth it, my first one was from the vacuum shop it came with like 20 free services I’m still doing it only twice a year but my second one I got on Amazon it seems to be from Miele legitimately but that one we just clean the filter good at home that’s basically all a tuneup entails

Get the Miele stick vacumn. I love mine so much I bought a second, now I have two. The Dyson was fine at first but I went through like 5 of them and finally switched to Miele

There really isn’t a whole house cordless vac that will hold up. Cordless stick vacs are meant for spot cleaning, maybe a whole room. Beyond that, they wear down really fast. My favorite stick vacs are the HX2 Triflex and V15. They’ve got a similar level of airflow but my Triflex overall feels higher quality. I don’t like the flimsy looseness of my V15, but they both clean pretty well for stick vacs.

The two “compact” offerings from Miele, which are engineered specifically for small homes with all hard flooring, include the Miele Compact C1 and Miele CX1 Boost. There is a like-new open-box Compact C1 on eBay right now for $299, but I would upgrade to the parquet twister floor head of which you can choose two widths - wide and extra wide. Seller: “Amber and Mika’s Store” …I almost bought it but decided to get a CX1 Boost, instead. I also have a V15, but man the floor head is so narrow. Feels like it takes forever to use it! Suction could be better, but it’s about the strongest cordless stick available, it and the Miele HX2.

For what, your weight set? Jk. Dyson V15 Detect, Gen5Detect, and Miele Triflex HX2 are the most powerful stick vacs. Some people complain about the way the HX2’s dust bin opens but it really is simple and takes not time at all. You turn the lid counterclockwise to 10 O’ Clock position to remove it, then turning the lid to the counterclockwise 8 O’ Clock position opens the trapped door which is where the dirt falls out of. Full machine disassembly for deep cleaning / repair / service is significantly easier with the Triflex. It relies on one cyclone whereas the V15 and Gen5Detect have numerous cyclone (6 or 8?), so they don’t need filter cleaning as often. Their dirt bin capacities are a little larger, but they should all be emptied after each use imo. For all sticks, fully charge the battery before using it the first time. Does something to pair it with the circuit board.

r/VacuumCleanersWhy are neither Dyson vacuums nor stick vacuums in the recommended vacuum cleaners list
3 months ago

I recommend them, but not for whole-house cleaning. However, they’re incredibly handy for spot cleaning. My two favorites are the Miele Triflex HX2, and the Dyson V15 Detect. The HX2 is sturdier, with tighter tolerances, and its airflow on max speed rivals the V15 and Gen5 Detect. The V15’s laser floor head is amazing, and I’ve grown to love it. I bought the extension hose for it, and use it frequently for touch-up work after detailing a car for brief attachment use. However, it’s also worn down considerably and I don’t see it lasting for much longer, maybe another year or two before needing a new battery. The paint has worn off around the cyclone. I am considering buying an HX2 as a replacement when the time comes, but both are good machines. I think the HX3 is a much better deal when getting a discount on a holiday sale day. I prefer the filtration specs, quality feel, and versatility. It has more airflow than the HX1, which I also have. The HX2 is likely better at carpet cleaning and hard flooring while the Dysons are better with tools. You can get a heavy Dyson discount buying a “Dyson Remanufactured” unit from the Dyson Outlet online. The Miele is significantly easier to disassemble for repairs and service, while the Dyson is much more complex with a ton of screws and cheaply fitting trim.

I see the appeal of a stick. I have a V15. It’s about 3 yrs old. It’s primary role is for in-between cleans, small messes. Touch-ups. But, if I am going to vac our main living areas or the entire house, I can get the job done a lot faster with my Miele. If I am going to deep clean the carpet, I don’t pre-vac with my V15. I use my Kirby. If I am going to detail a vehicle, Miele. If I am going to use attachments for deep cleaning, Miele.

The Miele Duoflex HX1 is one of the most solid stick vacs I have tested in terms of build quality. I also liked the Triflex HX2's as it's more versatile, but the Duoflex performed better in testing and was marginally better in terms of build quality feel. As for battery life, some of the Triflex HX2 variants come with two batteries and an external charger, so you can have another handy and double the battery life (I tested the cat & dog). In my testing, the battery life at max suction was around 15 minutes for the Duoflex and 14 minutes for the Triflex. The battery life at their lowest suction was 63 minutes for both the Duoflex and Triflex. For comparison, the V8 was 8 minutes at max suction and 41 minutes at low suction.

Hey! We only test min and max battery based on the configuration that would cause it to drain the fastest and slowest. So for the lower battery life it's 15 minutes with the power head, and for the higher 63 minutes at low suction was with a non-powered attachment (crevice tool). If you use the vacuum in low suction with the power head, I'd guess that you'd get somewhere in-between like 30-40ish minutes, but I can't be sure. If you're worried about battery life, some of the variants (likely different per region) of the Triflex HX2 come with two batteries and the batteries can be charged without being connected to the vacuum. I didn't love the build quality of the Triflex HX2 as much as the Duoflex, but it's not terrible either.

I had a Miele blizzard which was really powerful but eventually conked out. I then bought the Miele pet vac triflex HX2. Where do I start - suction is very mediocre and bag fills up very quickly, emptying very fiddly and has 4 separate components where pet hair and dirt clogs and needs to be manually removed -frustrating and a big warning - do not waste your money.
