"I like the bag. Our bagless vacuums always made a MESS cloud of dust when trying to empty them in the kitchen. I'd have to go outside, and it would still make a cloud all over me. This was easy, close the lid on the bag, lift it out, toss it in the trash, put a new one in. It holds more than I'd typically think, because unlike our bagless, the dirt all gets packed into the bag, it gets more dense. So it holds more than you would expect."
"We've neglected the hell out of it. It has 1555 hours on it with minimal maintenance. Ran it every night for 4 years or so. So I always thought these things were tanks. It still works"
"All the parts that will have tangled hair (like rollers, empty bin, rotating brushes, and wheels) are extremely easy to remove and clean, almost with no tools needed. I literally take only ten minutes to remove every dog hair inside the system."

"Been using them for about four years working out in my gym, and cycling daily (45+ minutes on a bicycle outdoors)."
"I even washed them accidentally and still worked perfectly fine afterwards."
"I still have the Kirby my grandma bought brand new in 1970."

"it's a dream/works so well. ... I am shocked (kinda disgusted at times!) at how much it picks up."
"The other head without the spinner is fucking ridiculously strong. ... I cannot vacuum a rug with it because it sucks so hard. I have to hold one side down with my foot and pull away and it's still hard haha."
"3 dog's and 3 cats with all carpet. ... that thing fuckin rips. ... it works too good and everytime I use it I have to take scissors and cut the hair that's caught around the head in the brushes but it's not the vacuums fault I have a fucking hobby farm on a carpet sooo."

"it's designed so well, it's a joy to vacuum 2x daily (concrete floors/live at the beach with a long-haired GSD, I vacuum constantly)."
"Miele! We have 9 cats and a dog. ... It cleans up pet messes"
"I use the bagged canister design for the whole house and for every mess. Even pet hair."

"They're so cheap in the UK for what they are because they are made here. ... £130 will buy you a brand new one, but an second hand one is a perfectly good option too."

"And it was a disaster on our cotton area rug, even on the lowest setting. I ended up with a ton of lint and a roughed-up rug!"
"My only real gripe with mine is that it’s not a very powerful vacuum at default settings. ... The 10R seems to struggle with picking up heavier, aerodynamic debris like rice grains or seeds, on its default settings."
"vacuuming and hair tangling is very poor."

"The only thing a Henry isn't so great for is deep pile carpet. ... Probably best to get an upright as well for that."
Back then I knew someone who had a Numatic it was like an Edward but blue and had a wrap around cord and with two red switches on for the on/off and the other for the pump setting that made a humming noise. This would have been around the mid 90s or 96ish but it always left an impression on me. They were better made and durable and had stronger motors. I think the quality changed when the wheels changed from black on Henry to the Red or Pink you see on Hetty.
I had a look it was an old WV370 as it just had Numatic on it. Was a great machine allround
Wet and dry Henry. Takes the normal Henry bag, and also comes to the rescue for leaks and draining radiators. Also, as a bonus, wet and dry vacs aren't limited to motor wattage restrictions.
That's correct, but mine was branded as Henry wet and dry, depends where you buy them from. 1000w Vs 600w
George, it's a bigger Henry that you can wet and dry use. Plus, point you're buying British .
I've a big henry, amazing but bit much for dragging up and downstairs so i bought a Henry quick handheld, its brilliant
Im a Henry loyalist
I’d highly recommend a canister vacuum cleaner with a dedicated bare-floor nozzle - the kind that’s just a brush with no wheels. Something like a Wessel-Werk CN250 or D 330 Turn & Clean. Both Miele and SEBO offer branded versions of these. These don’t have wheels and sit on just bristles. No plastic wheels and baseplates fo break. These glide over the uneven floors beautifully and strong suction will pick the dirt up out of the crevices. If you’re dealing with fine dust, bags are the way to go. No filters to wash, no dust cups to clean out, no plumes of dust. No, the bags won’t fill up instantly or loose suction the way old paper vacuum bags did. I’d strongly recommend looking at SEBO E3, or K3; Miele C1 or C3 canister with the Miele Parquet nozzle, Numatic Henry with the bare-floor only brush. If you find a canister you like that doesn’t have a no-wheels bare floor brush, you can get aftermarket ones either online or at your local vac shop. Most canisters use either a 35mm (Miele size) fitting, or generic 1 1/4” or 32mm fitting. Check out your local vacuum shop and let them know your flooring situation. They’ll be able to get you the exact attachments you need.
they are annoying use. I have 3 or 4 (including 2 henry's). Total PITA. I'll take an upright any day. Felix would be my perfect upright only it's not (can't stand up with hard floor tool). Still use it, just get ticked off at it when it slides down to the floor.......
1. power isn't an issue. Wattage on the upper end cordless dysons is as much or more than some of the corded miele canister vacs sold in my country. 2. Definitely more bagged corded available than just numatic/henry. 3. Weight in the handl. I have a have a canister and there are more than a few others on the market. I also have a nice cordless upright that we love (not available in the USA, bosch Athlet). Meile makes the triflex which can be configued as an upright. 4. My henry cordless canister has the same exact filtration as my henry corded.
Don't have the meile but have the henry. Comments: \- Good suction. \- Breaky hose (I've replaced the end 3 or 4 times between my two henrys and the entire hose once) but easy to get parts (esp. if you can order from the UK). But other than the hose it's 'built to last". \- Not a fan of the electric cord take up system.... hate turning that little knob. Wish I had just got a james as it's less complex and I normally end up taking all of the cord out anyways. \- Very top heavy. Easy to tip over when it gets caught on something or roll down the stairs. \- Decent filtration. Love that large triflex pre-motor filter and the bag does a decent job. I use one of my henry's for fireplace ash and it never sets off the dirty air sensor on my air cleaner. (OTOH my sebo will set it off). \- Totally worth the UK price (I think I paid $170 usd) but I feel in the USA it's way over priced ($399?). \- Works great on hard floors with the wesselwerk RD285. A great upgrade to the stanard floor tool. \- pet pevee: I can't find the RD285 with a parking clip so stowing it is a mess with the wand/hose just laying all over the place.
\> and it works amazingly with the et-1 for bare floor usage. Wow. Not my experience at all. Are you using it with the brush roll on? Not an option for some floors so the brush roll justs gets in the way of the suction and the bulky head gets in the way of vacuuming edges. ET-1 is meh (2+ years experience) on hard floors. When I use it I feel 'm getting $200 vacuum performance out of a $600 vacuum. Big house with messy kids from teens to littles. Not just vacuuming up yesterday's dust. Throw some fruit loops on the floor and tell us how it does. With the parquet tool and the front brush removed its a hard floor monster. A real competitor to the Henry with wesselwerk RD285. I prefer the henry performance a bit more as I can lift and drag back over almost anything. Stuff big enough will snowplow on the parquet tool even with the front brush removed and lifting the heavy felix is a pita to get over stuff that won't fit. And noise? Easily the loudest vacuum I own (I have a lot of vacuums). At least it feels like it. Maybe it's the same as the henry just closer to my ears? Other peeves: Smells, generates a lot of heat and filtration fails the air cleaner test (henry passes it). (Air cleaner dirty air sensor turns angry red when using the felix) and of course won't stand up when using the parquet head. BTW reading this I had flashbacks to sebo USA marketing. They've contacted me directly to let me know the ET-1 is great on hard floors. I tell that to my hard floors all the time but they are just not listening.
If you can afford to buy a new vacuum cleaner every five years, get a shark. If you want something to pass down to your kids, get Henry the indestructible.
If you get Henry Home (~£180) it comes with a turbo brush for carpets that improves performance a lot.
I have a karcher (think of it as an industrial cylinder) just like a henry - and there are some places in the house where it would be difficult to use the cylinder. Personally don't get rid of Henry - as it's a god send for a real good vacuum that sucks well and sucks up the mess in times of urgency (when your stand alone is battery drained. But I do recommend the Shark Stratos - it's a really good addition to my cylinder vacuum. It's lightweight and the battery lasts well. You can choose IQ sensos or eco mode or boost mode. With boost mode it sucks really well for a battery, but of course you do expect it to drain quickly in the process. Whether as a vacuum for the home or a smaller hoover for the stairs and clean up mess in the kitchen. The stratos has done a good job thus far. Battery 3.5 hours to charge up fully - and Ninja Kitchen UK and Shark are in the same group - so from a warranty point of view - you got it covered if anything goes wrong.
