Based on 1 year's data from Jan 28, 2026 How it works
my ryobi pet stick vacuum it works great and its cordless
FYI the hose in the motorised head does not have genuine replacement part. This is confirmed by Ryobi. I haven't found a proper 3rd party/aftermarket hose yet. It is probably the reason why there are hardly any teardown/fixit videos for their motorised head. Mine (the dual brush beater bar aka motorised head) had its hose tear after less than 2 years use. I called Ryobi and they said the whole head is a consumable, so I need to buy a new head ($158) which is a little over 1/4 of the price of the OG unit I bought. I didn't quite hear clearly but I think the warranty on consumables is 3 months. The single brush motorised head is $99. The hose is 35mm (or 36mm) OD with a metal coil (like a screw spiralling) inside the hose to keep the hose in shape as it bends while being in use. Most 3rd party hoses are 25mm or 38mm. I have seen some advertised on AliExpress/Ebay as 35mm or 36mm, but they are not (usually 38 or 39mm) - I ordered from 5 different sellers all > 36mm OD. I did find a "vacuum" hose with 34mm OD but it only has a plastic coil, but it may work. I am waiting for it to arrive. This is the last attempt I am going to try to find a proper hose to fix the head (e.g. approaching $50 to fix it, which at that point it will be better for me to buy the $99 single brush head). Couldn't tape the tear either because it was very large tear and close to the plastic neck pieces enclosing the hose. So, the tape couldn't secure both ends of the tear properly (the hose flexes left/right/up/down depending on how you drive the head).
I have read the Tineco S12 is good. You can get spare batteries but not aftermarket (i.e. expensive batteries). I have the Ryobi One+ HP R18XSV9, I think the Pet Stick version as it has the dual brush motorised head and same accessories. Very good suction, easy to clean and cheaper replaceable batteries. I would recommend it but beware of that the WHOLE motorised head is considered a consumable and cost $158 to replace ($99 for the single head). See my other comment in this post about this. Note that most battery powered sticks don't last more than 20-40min depending on use (e.g. standard suction vs max suction). That's why I went for the Ryobi because it has cheaper replaceable batteries but after less than 2 years of use, the motor head hose developed a tear, and it cannot be (easily) fixed and cost a bomb to replace. I also got a DeWalt DCN501LN for Father's Day, which is not quite a standard stick vac but have consequently read a lot of good reviews (as I was considering returning it). I haven't used it yet (since I was considering returning it) but I may update after I have tried it this weekend.
Ryobi has one with TWO roller bars in the powerhead. It works better than any other battery powered vacuum I’ve tried. Batteries are easy to swap out when needed. Only downside is it’s too strong so if there’s a sock an inch or two away from the head it will suck it up
18V ONE+ HP CORDLESS PET STICK VAC KIT WITH DUAL-ROLLER BAR MODEL: #PBLSV717K https://ryobitools.ca/products/details/18V-One-Plus-HP-Cordless-Pet-Stick-Vac-Kit-With-Dual-Roller-Bar/ Enjoy!
i have the Ryobi and its been really good, especially the one with the dual roller (soft roller brush + traditional roller brush). It got me to buy more ryobi products and surprised with how good their HP lineup is these days..
i personally liked the new [Ryobi 18v pet vacuum from bunnings](https://www.bunnings.co.nz/ryobi-18v-one-hp-bl-stick-vac-with-dual-roller-kit-r18xsv9pet142_p0372183), however it may not be for you. **pros:** \-quite affordable for a 2 battery kit compared to dyson \-good suction \-2 hepa filter included in the box, new filters sold at bunnings \-double roller (1 softroller + 1 brush) and mini powered roller included **cons:** \-no charging dock in NZ, however it comes with charger in the USA model \-no mechanism to easily push dirt out from the cannister \-little bit heavier than the dyson, especially with the battery on it \-no self cleaning dock either I know bunnings isn't usually a place for people to go to for house vacuums but if you own Ryobi tools or looking for different options this may one to consider? I also see Shark vacuums are similarly priced with a self cleaning dock as well, maybe have a look into those
Tbh Bunnings mostly have entry lvl brand for stick vacuums and plug in wet n dry vacs. Ryobi have been killing it in the last few years with their high performance (HP) lineup though which is why this one is pretty decent for the cost It’s really good value if you consider that it comes with 2 batteries and new ones are easily interchangeable and easy to replace then it’s a good option
If you want to save a bit of money, we got this one [https://www.bunnings.co.nz/ryobi-18v-one-hp-brushless-stick-vacuum-4ah-kit\_p0657567](https://www.bunnings.co.nz/ryobi-18v-one-hp-brushless-stick-vacuum-4ah-kit_p0657567) and I would highly recommend it. You can also get a 2Ah version for cheaper again but we've found that with a 4Ah battery, this gives us enough power to vacuum a 4-bedroom house plus a little extra. It doesn't have the extra attachment but think that might be for upholstery (I may be wrong) but the standard one picks up pet hair super easy off our carpet.
The ryobi dual roller is great. If you already have a bunch of ryobi 18v batteries then I would recommend. Pricey tough at $600. the cheaper ryobi models are apparently not so great.
I went with a Ryobi because I have a lot of Ryobi tools so I also have a lot of Ryobi batteries. I scored a machine on clearance for $100 and it’s honestly it’s pretty great. I have owned a Tineco that was gifted to me and that thing was hot garbage. If you have power tools, look to see what whatever platform(s) you are invested in already have to offer.
I’m switching from Ryobi to another brand after having several tools break over the last year. That being said, I just purchased another Ryobi stick vac to replace our Dyson in our home. Out of anything they produce right now- they got this one right.
Still have issues with small pieces breaking in the joints where you can remove the stick/extension. Once those break, it becomes loose and has small air leaks:(
I have a Ryobi cordless pet hair vacuum that works great. It’s probably on sale at Home Depot or direct tools outlet right now.
We have a Dyson V6 that we got on special YEARS ago, still working. The brush is a bit worn though so I have one coming from Aliexpress for not much $$. Keep an eye on specials. I'll replaced it at some point with a Ryobi as if you register it, you get 6 years warranty. Being a stick vac makes it about 10000% easier to be motivated to vacuum compared to a drag around vacuum. Granted the suction won't be as good, it's a worthwhile compromise IMO.
