"I have the Apex, which was replaced 3 times by Shark due to the motor burning out."
"I used it fairly gently for maybe a year or so then it bricked itself. ... It's just dead. ... Seems like poorly built garbage."
"There is so much weight on the bottom hinge that it eventually gives way. ... Don't expect longevity. ... It was broken by 2023. ... Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the Shark Lift Away models. They are absolutely terrible in longevity, being built with cheap plastic parts at the bottom hinges, which will break in a few years. ... It is very poorly designed in that section. ... Longevity is awful. ... The problem is the weight of the canister/motor on the bottom hinge in the lift-away and other similar designs. You'd expect they would have used metal hinges to take some 15 lbs of equipment weight on it. But when it finally broke, I was shocked to see that it was all plastic. The floor and carpet attachment are now useless."

I second this advice. I’ve had several different Shark vacuums and the Shark Apex Duo has easily been the best. The self cleaning brush has made life so much easier. We used to always end up with hair build up that had to be cut off and the brush does not come out easily. I LOVE that the second roller pops right off for cleaning if needed, it cuts up the hair, and the internal roller is always hair free!
r/Newfoundlander • Vacuum Recommendations? ->Shark Apex. It’s the best purchase I have ever made. I love my vacuum like a member of my family.
r/GuiltyDogs • Any vacuum cleaner recommendations? 👹 ->Yeah that’s the one! Not sure why it is unavailable right now unless there is a newer version out or something 🤔
r/GuiltyDogs • Any vacuum cleaner recommendations? 👹 ->Everyone shits on shark but I love mine and I’ve had my Apex for around 5 years
r/VacuumCleaners • Best vacuum cleaners that work good with carpet and wood floors ->This sub will mostly try to lean you away from what it considers a disposable vacuum and into a buy it for life vacuum. The difference generally being complexity in design, gimmicky features, no parts availability and no way to repair once broken. But based on your situation I think a “disposable” vacuum would be just fine. You can use it/beat it up for a few years, move it with you, and not spend a ton. Then down the line maybe consider a buy it for life brand. In that case I would recommend looking at Costco (either in store or online) and getting either the Hoover Onepwr or LG CordZero if you want a cordless vacuum, or a Shark Navigator or Shark Duoclean if you’re ok with a cord. Id personally stay away from Dyson as they tend to be the same disposable quality but with a buy it for life price tag. The exception is the Dyson Ball Animal 3 on sale at Costco right now for $280, but it’s very large which you stated not wanting.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->I think the closest BIFL in the cordless market would probably be the LG CordZero. Aside from that you’re probably looking at a 5 years or less lifespan and maybe a battery replacement or two within that timeframe. If you really want a BIFL vacuum, you’d want to look into a bagged unit, and most of this sub will recommend either Miele or Sebo in that market. I personally own a Sebo E3 but also a Shark Apex. I expect the Sebo to last forever and have parts easily available when needed, but I’ve also owned the Shark for around 5 years now with no issues that I keep as a backup/beater vacuum for things I don’t want to use the Sebo for. But for $189 you honestly can’t beat a Shark Navigator from Costco. You can beat the hell out of it and not worry about tearing it up. And the Costco return policy/warranty will help bridge the gap of Sharks truly awful customer service.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->I have an old Shark Apex AZ1002 that has done amazingly for five years, and it's still running strong. I get Shark probably make them a bitch to service/repair, however for the price, performance, and quality. I'm extremely happy with it and nothing is broken on it. Reddit likes to hate. They hate the vacuum wars guy a lot, but he does seem to be a by-the-numbers guy. If you know you like Miele then there's no reason to watch him. Ultimately, what matters if you're happy with the vacuum and that you want to use it regularly.
r/VacuumCleaners • Cordless Stick Vacuums are perfect for most people. ->Shark Apex does really great with pet hair. It has a metal comb like piece in front to the roller brush. It moves well, has great auction, can be used to go under beds and furniture. If you ever need parts and filters grab them on eBay they’re cheaper. It’s like 300-350 full retail but I bet you can get a used on or open box on eBay much cheaper. Like $100-150. I was very satisfied with this vac and I’ve had it like six years without issue. It’s the first vacuum I purchased in 40 years. I’ve always just repaired shit I find on the curb lol.
r/Frugal • Favorite/best affordable vacuum cleaner? Preferably something that handles cat hair. ->I purchased the stratos after I had my previous version for years (apex). Only replaced because after a certain period of time, no cleaning will remove that dog smell. But again, we are talking 6+ years with one permanent dog and several rover dogs in the mix. I like the stratos but my big gripe is the wand doesn’t have a light on it like the apex. Also, I could take the vacuum head completely apart and clean it out in the apex, but the stratos only lets me open the very front part. I have carpets, rugs, and hardwood. I liked the apex because I could take the beater out, can’t do that with the stratos, so I had to buy a mighty mite for my Persian rug.
r/VacuumCleaners • Which shark vacuum is the best for pets and carpets? ->Shark Apex AZ1002... As someone whose wife has lower back-length hair, two daughters, and 22 dogs - we need a good vacuum! I can't speak highly enough about it. It has a "cutter" that will help break up long hair. And the pre-roller brush is removable, so you can clear off any hair that does tangle/wrap in it... Replacement parts are available, filters are removable & able to be cleaned.
r/BuyItForLife • Stick vacuum for really long hair ->Shark Duo Clean - Zero M It combs hair as it sucks it up. I’ve had mine 7 years now. I have long, thick hair and a mini-Australian shepherd that sheds year round. I did a ton of research and this vacuum literally changed my life.
r/CleaningTips • Vacuum for long hair ->I asked a similar question last year on r/VacuumCleaners Here's the thread if you want to read everyone's answers: [Do I need two vacuums? : r/VacuumCleaners](https://www.reddit.com/r/VacuumCleaners/comments/1cg235f/do_i_need_two_vacuums/) I settled on a Kenmore Elite 800 (the gold/bronze one) and it does a pretty damn good job Before this one, I had a Shark Apex DuoClean with the self-cleaning brush roll and that lasted like 7ish years, was an amazing vac honestly. Before that I had a Dyson DC50 animal and that thing was fucking garbage and I will NEVERRRR recommend Dyson to anybody lol If you don't mind spending like $1000, I'd go for the Miele or Sebo, they will last a lifetime Also note that if you want a vacuum that lasts a long time, all the experts recommend bagged vacuums over canister vacuums
