r/HomeImprovementSmall apartment + pet hair, is a cordless vacuum actually worth it or should I stick to a regular one?

Both plus a robot if you can make it all work financially. We use the cordless mostly for furniture/bed/quick cleanups. We vacuum our bed daily because our dog lays in it. Change our sheets about every 4-5 days. You don't need to spend more than ~$150. Here's as "high-end" as you would need, with a lot of nice to have attachments. I'd watch this over black friday: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S652B12 Corded is for the more heavy duty every ~2 weeks cleaning. Robot helps keep the main areas a little bit cleaner day to day.

This [Shark Pet Cordless Vacuum Cleaner (IX141)](https://gadgetglides.blogspot.com/2025/07/shark-pet-cordless-vacuum-cleaner-ix141.html?m=1) has been a game changer. It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, and perfect for quick cleanups around pets. The suction power is impressive, it easily picks up pet hair from both carpets and hardwood floors. The self-cleaning brushroll helps prevent tangles, and the battery lasts long enough for a full cleaning session (usually around 30–40 minutes).

I’ve had my cordless Shark for about 9 months now, and absolutely love it. Oh, and I have 3 cats, 2 are black, shedding tuffs of black hair all over the place. I also have a corded Kenmore, which still works great and will probably last for years to come — but it weighs like 20 pounds, and requires lugging it up and down the stairs, moving furniture around to plug it in and out of all the various outlets, oh, and attempting to use the attachments in order to Vaccum the stairs and bathroom ceiling fans literally leaves me battered and bruised. I just couldn’t take it any longer. But now that I have my Shark, instead of once a week, I now spend 5 minutes a day and all my floors stay nice and clean. So fast and easy. Don’t remember exactly what I paid, but it was under $150, and well worth it. Only time I use the corded Kenmore now is right before shampooing carpets with my Rug Doctor, which also gets carpets far, far cleaner than any Vaccum.

I have the Shark cordless IX141, and my experience is the complete opposite. To dump the dust cup, you just push a button, and it empties right into trash — quick, easy, effortless. Hardly what I would describe as a “pain”. Amazon sells sets of new filters, for about $15 for 6 sets, but I’ve just been rinsing out the ones that came with the Vaccum, and letting them air dry before popping them back in — again, quick, easy, and virtually effortless. There was nothing “easy” about continuously having to lug my heavy corded Vaccum (a Kenmore Progressive) up and down multiple flights of stairs, and having to wrangle that cord while repeatedly having to move furniture around in order plug it in and out of all the many outlets. I’ve had my Shark cordless for about 9 months now, and it’s absolutely wonderful!

I have hair the same length and we got the shark pet stick vacuum. I’m forgetting the exact model. It’s the newest one and has a plastic roller versus a brush. So far I haven’t had to clean my hair out of it one time and I got it for Christmas.

I'm in a similar home and have 2 cats, one of which I'm surprised isn't bald from how much he sheds. I've got a Shark cordless pet whatever and it tucks away easily, is light and cleans up everything without any issues. The battery lasts several full cleans of the flat before I have to charge it. It's not the cheapest vacuum but it's miles better than any of the ones I've used before at my parents house and definitely beats Dyson vacuums. It's easy to dismantle and clean each part, too. It's not very loud, which is something I was very mindful of when I bought it. If I have to quickly turn it on at midnight because the cat knocked something over, I don't feel like I'll be waking up the entire block around me.

I find myself using my Shark Pet cordless way more than the Sebo canister these days. It’s convenient, not too heavy and maneuvers well.

I have a shark cordless pet vacuum. It's been the best purchase since getting a bunny. I go everywhere with the handheld part and vacuum up poop, hay, fur, a few times a day. Oh and also hair, because I probably shed as much as my bunny and I have long hair. My house is usually spotless with this and I've had it for a few years now. A must have.

It does well but I also do only the small little tidbits, and not with the floor vacuum part, I use the handheld with the wand attachment. And then I just empty out the canister right away so it doesn't remain there. I used the floor vacuum attachment on long hay before and it did get stuck into a crevice in the attachment, but this particular one is so easy to open up, that I just opened it up and removed the hay. No problem. It's honestly the best, I use it so much.
