"Bonus, if you have Ryobi One+ batteries you can buy an adaptor off Amazon for like $30 so you don't have to worry about the inbuilt battery going flat, I absolutely love it"

"I have just replaced the battery on my 5 year old V8 and it's perfect ... There's full battery replacement sets that also include new filters, worth a shot!! :)"

"Bought a chinese knockoff battery on Amazon, still working after almost 4 years. 😅 ... No soldering, just a couple of screws and you swap the battery pack. 👍"

"The first one lasted five years, which was good enough for me, considering the price & the intense use. ... Two dogs (one a husky), two cats, and my thick, long hair. I vacuum daily, hardwoods and carpet."

"I’ve had this one for a few years and use it almost daily around the kitchen."

"I have cordless! I’ve had it for over 5 years and have only had to replace the battery once so far, otherwise no issues."

Miele for the house - I have it for more than 20 years. Nothing can beat it. Have a Dyson cordless for quick jobs - every year needs serious maintenance. Luckily I am an engineer and can take it apart and deep clean it. Frankly with all the PR around Dyson's engineering marvel - it is a piece of shit and it wasn't built to last. Henry for the garage and car cleaning. Good workhouse - it hurts my eyes to have it in the house. Too industrial looking.

I’ve had 2 Dyson stick vacs break and honestly the manufacturing seems to get cheaper not better. Just switched to shark and happy so far but when you’re in the $400 range you are buying a short term vacuum anyhow.

We got a Dyson and it’s the single biggest regret I’ve had making a purchase. Thing can’t suck up a Cheerios, dust bunny or flour split on the floor.

Yes. I use my cordless Dyson daily for small messes and use it as my main vacuum. It’s so convenient. I love it. I also got it on sale at Costco.

r/germanshepherdsI have these two hair shedders and I can’t find a vacuum cleaner that doesn’t give up the will to live after about a year. Anyone got recommendations for a brand and model that lasts longer than 12months?

The Dyson stick one for animals. I think I have the V8 animal. I honestly hate it for almost everything else because it has such a little suction area, but it was the best vacuum ever when my girl was around and shedding 24/7 365. The robot picks up the rest of the stuff between using the Dyson.

Same - Though Reddit seems to hate them. We got a Shark as a gift, lasted 1 year. They replaced it for free. Lasted about 2 years. We’ve had the same Dyson stick over 10 years with no issues. A charge doesn’t last long as long as it used to, but suction is still excellent. I can save you the trouble, Reddit will recommend you buy a $1300 corded Miele/Sebu. If God forbid you must have a cordless, $1000 Miele or $200 shark. I just don’t think it’s worth it for something where the bar is “does it get my floors clean?”. It reminds of certain hobbies like Mountain Biking where anything other than enthusiast-level ($$$$) is ‘junk’. Okay but I had fun riding my ‘junk’ the last decade while saving 8K. PC gaming, too - nobody has enjoyed a game with 12GB of VRAM, apparently.

Don’t know how often you’d use or charge yours but after having to replace the battery on my Dyson twice when it died the third time I got a black and decker instead - swappable battery means there’s no wait for recharge an I don’t need a place to plug it in - I also had a ton of the batteries for other tools already. Oh, and it works great for a cordless stick, as well as the Dyson did an we use it on floors and rugs (still use an upright on the thick pile rugs weekly but it does the job for a quick tidy on them)

With the dyson stick cordless, the battery can be replaced. We did so on ours after 8ish years and it is like new.

When our battery started to go I had no idea it could be replaced. Needless to say I was very excited, lol

My husband ordered and exchanged it. I dont recall it being a pain in the ass. There seems to be 2 screws.

Avoid the V15 - repeated power/motor issues. From what I can tell, only the V8 is still recommended here.
