"Grab him a Logitech C920x camera. You can pick that up for around $110 ... Its a good starter to see if streaming is something he actually wants to pursue without breaking the bank."

"Love the C920, have bought several and they have all done me great ... Logitech C920 series is solid and I've been championing it for like 10 years ... there's a reason it has been the defacto main go-to webcam for so many years"

"the ONLY reason i switched to the anker webcams is because for some reason, my computer just stopped being able to detect the webcams. it wasn't a webcam issue since they worked on other computers, so it was software-related. ... my ankers didn't crash, the logitech ones did. ... with the logitechs, i tried everything, even reverting to the older webcam software that some people suggested, reverting to numerous drivers/OS checkpoints, etc. nothing worked. something just completely hijacked those usb serial connections to the webcam and wouldn't let go."

"Yeah they reset every fucking time, very, very annoying ... It wasn't. It still kept the auto focus on, auto white balance etc all the annoying crap."

"I used Logitech C920 webcams before and fought with different programs to keep settings and had to use so many lights. Then the next day whatever I set it too would look like something else and I'd have to adjust it again."

"One thing you definitely will have to leave unchecked is the Low Light Compensation option under camera control. It will be like night and day. When on, the camera looks horrible, bleached and you move in slow motion."

"I have the Logitech c920 and it doesn’t respond well to the V4l2-ctl commands in Crowsnest. ... Sometimes I can get them to work, but they’re often ignored. ... Exactly. Who wants to SSH into their RPi to set their focus and exposure before every print? Not me. ... It’s an annoying aspect of the c920 and an extra hassle I’m trying to help the OP avoid. ... If you don’t mind a fuzzy and over- or under-exposed subject then it’s a non-issue. ... For a basic stream to view progress it might work just fine. But why spend $50 on a camera that requires extra work to focus. ... I recommend something you can set via the config file on Crowsnest."

"1080/30 is very sloggy at this point, I genuinely don't understand why people are recommending this as if 1080/30 is acceptable nowadays. ... they are unfortunately severely outdated now. ... it's just a bit awkward in 2025. ... if you care for any type of performance then it's outdated at this point."

"It's USB2 only, no 4k, no 60fps at highest resolutions though."

"I have a c920 as well and the anker dunks on it without a doubt. Skip the c920 in 2025 imo"

"Adamantly here to say the C920 is absolutely garbage. ... Unless you’re in the most perfect of rooms, the white balance and exposure of this webcam is truly awful and you’ll need a white index card to calibrate it constantly."

"Then I turn off autofocus because it is what usually causes the focus to blur on my c920."

I've been using a Logitech C920 for the past few years and no one has complained about not being able to hear me or understand me. [https://www.logitech.com/en-us/shop/p/c920s-pro-hd-webcam.960-001257](https://www.logitech.com/en-us/shop/p/c920s-pro-hd-webcam.960-001257)

I have the Logitech C920 and the quality is fantastic. It's not "pro streamer with a $5000 Sony 1 million megapixel DSLR mounted on my desk" quality, but it's much better than what I see from my coworkers who just use their laptop cameras. The built in mic for the C920 is also really good. I've had several folks say I sound clear and at a good volume when we're on Zoom calls or Slack huddles.

> Hey do you guys have any idea which cam is good for streaming? Depends on what you're streaming. If you're just putting your face in a little square down in the bottom of the screen, pretty much any camera will do. > But in the elgato pro i look very very ill. My face is red like a tomate. The color fastness seems to be very bad This should be something that should be adjustable in the camera settings. But if you have tried to adjust the color settings in the camera and are sure that it's a fault in the hardware and not the settings... Logitec c920s Pro HD is pretty much a go-to in mid-range webcams. Though if you want something with a bit more resolution, a Razer Kiyo Pro will more than do the job. Pretty much sure both of those are under 200$USD. The C920s is under 100$. I use both in my streaming setup and they both work just great.

I've never been asked to take a picture of my ID since moving to this web cam. The main thing I was looking for though was wider field of vision since they always had me hugging my monitor to keep my head/hands/mouse/keyboard/monitor in view.

The one you linked looks bad because its not a real brand. If your just doing job interviews, it will be enough but for actual streaming quality is very important. https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Webcam-C920S-Privacy-Shutter/dp/B08DRQ66WP?crid=2EV4DRNRTPOT9&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.kR7wj9aWqwdB0BnDYAxjlGafwzUJxHbfKnhWbwA9gwVbk9fE0Zu0-eX8K4cz_yxcDptf-wqp-pYOucHEEgzUZU_UXPP2c6VdIdp11AkGbpm2m7JAdLz6Occ_NLBF1s_YG0jev1GBvMm1zcb5tP0XsuaUZJh3QjajQayLwQc79-3dmNUpoSmoT6mCSN2VPfcVgvdSjyRKZX9-Bv0TOG6QEA.8-LujLPTZ1fMoeR80V40l6tC0uyROiiRzvQaC8FkAqE&dib_tag=se&keywords=logitech+c920&qid=1758074262&s=electronics&sprefix=logitech+c920%2Celectronics%2C347&sr=1-3

Cameras might nicht come with a tripod included, but usually they allow to connect a tripod, same mechanism, same screw like for a camera. I still use several of Logitech C920 Pro HD; see [https://www.logitech.com/en-us/shop/p/c920s-pro-hd-webcam.960-001257](https://www.logitech.com/en-us/shop/p/c920s-pro-hd-webcam.960-001257) the spec says "**Tripod-ready universal mounting clip fits laptops, LCD or monitors**". It supports many resolutions, different encoding, different framerates. It's USB2 only, no 4k, no 60fps at highest resolutions though. If you are not after "extreme conditions" (very fast/slow/dark/bright; exotic resolutions, exotic color formats) then start with USB webcams. Depending on your used PC/board, you might need special flat cables (e.g. Aarduino, Mipi-CSI) and therefore special cameras - then you could look into something more "professional", where you could have a bigger influence (think of analogue cameras). A lot is about computer-vision, filters, neural-networks making use-cases possible. Very interesting for instance is surround-view, where the cameras will be equipped with fish-eye-lenses to achieve a bigger field-of-view. Check e.g. ebay or flee-markets and collect a few cameras!! Also have a look into stereo-cameras: RealSense and Luxonis.

This is what I use. that said it has the same inability to take a clear ID photo, so really no huge incentive to spend the extra $$$
