"Unifi provide the most stable wifi network for IoT of all the AP on the market, even with one VLAN, even in mesh configuration. ... I have +200 IoT devices in my home from Apple, Switchbot, Aqara, Logitech, Eufy, Hue, Govee, and numerous exotic brands. I have been through hell with solutions from Apple, Orbi, Peplink, Meraki, Eero, Huawei and many many more. And only since I am rocking on Unifi I can open my Apple Home app with not a single device error !"
"Actually better than a range extender, as Mesh systems are designed from the ground up to work with each other in the system. ... But it's half ass "patched up" jerky jerky mesh was no match to a Deco. Deco was snappier, more reliable, and longer range."
"I have a 2 story 2350sf house. I have an Orbi with the master AP upstairs in the hall covering all the bedrooms rooms. Downstairs I have 2 Orbi Client APs on either end of the house covering all the downstairs, garage, and outside. ... I’ve never had any issues with coverage or bandwidth."

"with a big house we always had issues with coverage before that's non-existent now"

"The Asus 6 and 6e routers/mesh routers are very stable and work fantastically ... I have the xt8 mesh system (2 nodes hardwired) . Haven't had to reset it besides updates in over 2 years after I set it up."
"Yes, using 3 of these routers in AiMesh configuration with the master and two nodes. All routers are connected via 2.5 GbE backbone, working perfectly with the latest firmware 3.0.0.6.102_37506."
"I followed this method with multiple RT-BE92Us in AIMesh: updated to firmware 37500, then factory reset all devices and reconfigured, then updated in the GUI to 37504 when it was released. Thankfully all is working well, with no thermal errors in the logs, CPU utilisation averaging <30% per core even under load, memory utilisation ~80%, AIProtection, QoS and many other features activated. I've now ordered a third unit for further extending my AIMesh."

"I live in a 600 Sqft apartment and both the Netgear and ROG maxed out my 1000/1000 Mbps connection on WiFi in every corner, while the UDM7 gave me around 400/400 Mbps in some corners and only maxed out right by the router."
"I recently bought the following and now getting blazing speed around my 1 level 1700 sq house."
"velocidades de 650mb lo soporta por mucho, mi iphone en wifi 5G da el maximo de velocidad igualmente mi pc de escritorio en wifi aprovecha toda la banda ancha"

"A while back I had an ASUS modem, they support 3rd party software like Asuswrt-Merlin (even when the router is EOL)."
"I bought the router and just updated the firmware with the Merlin version..I tried stock and just setting it up felt sluggish and I wasn't happy with how long it took 5G to become visibe so i decided to update with Merlin Firmware. I am glad I did. Much smoother and faster with merlin firmware and both channels(2.4G and 5G) showed up right away at the same time on my devices."
"You also have the choice of third-party firmware (RMerlin) if you're looking for that."

"Also if you want to use any of the traffic analyzer bandwidth graphs or per IP data use you have to accept an EULA that clearly says they will send all your connection data to trendmicro and they will sell it to advertisers. ... You'll start to get targeted ads for anything you access in your house."

"But they abandon all their ROG products after 1 year. ... After you buy that $699 router if you need warranty or it has a bug (like mine) where it'll stop dropping macs onto ethernet after a few weeks you just get to deal with it."

"My Deco XE75 pro had one of the Ethernet ports go bad. I spent way too long figuring that out today."

Currently you have wifi5 asus router. If you get a wifi6/7 asus router as your main remember that you will be running a slower mesh. If I understand it correctly, aimesh runs at the lowest speed of all the nodes in mesh. So choose wisely. I currently have gt-ax6000 and it's been rock solid. The coverage is excellent. I have a 2 storey 175sqm house and it covers almost everything. I would look into xd6, ax86u or gt-ax6000 or something else.
Your main problem is that both routers are in a cupboard. They reduced the range significantly. Even if you get better router but hide them in closet you will be disappointed. I have ont inside pantry where initially I had my router. That would only cover half of my house (185sqm 2 storey). I got electrician to fish out conduit from the ont cabinet in pantry to outside above the door along with a power point installed. Got a normal shelf above and got my asus gt-ax6000 router outside. Now it covers the whole house without any issues. All rooms are wired and I could have added more mesh to make it work easily. Ont cabinet was too small to install a switch and put the router inside.
Same, been with M1 for the past 3 years since moving into my new place. Never had to call them a single time, except to renew my plan. I chose a router bundle (Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000) with a 1Gbps plan initially, then upgraded to 3Gbps cos it was cheap. The router comes with a gaming ethernet port that prioritizes traffic through that port, so that's where my PS5 goes.
I've had zero problems with M1 for many years. Only went down once, and that was for scheduled maintenance in the middle of the night. Also, it's not just your internet plan that could be the cause of any issues. If your router isn't good enough, or is in a terrible position, or is overheating, or the bomb shelter is between your laptop and the router, you are gonna have issues no matter what plan you have. I have a standard 1Gbps plan but an Asus gaming router with ethernet cables going to the 3 heaviest users in the home – PS5, living TV and bedroom TV. I also set up a second router using Asus AImesh to provide wifi signal to one of the further corners of the house.
I use an Asus GT-AX6000. I'm delighted with it. No lag.
I also wonder about this, recently had my sub and 100's surrounds stop working with my Arc. Move and playbar still work fine though. From what I've discovered sonos doesn't like my Asus GT-AX6000 router that I recently upgraded to. Worked fine for a while but started giving me hell this weekend.
You should look at the Xfinity list of approved modems for your area. I'm using the Netgear CM2000 that I got used on eBay with Xfinity. It was on the list, works great, and has given me no trouble. I'm currently on the 300/20Mbps speed tier with Xfinity, but the CM2000 is pretty versatile. Does DOCSYS 3.1, and goes up to 2.33gigabits according to Xfinity. As far as routers go, I've had good results with Asus for some time now. Couple of nice Asus routers are the RT-AX88U Pro and the RT-BE96U routers. Personally, I have the RT-BE96U that works well with wifi-7 and MLO. I also have the GT-AX6000 which is the gaming version of the RT-AX88U Pro, same chip sets. Both of these provide great wireless, each one covers our whole house (2-story, 2000sq.ft.). The RT-BE96U provides slightly better wireless, but both are really good. No need for mesh for wireless here...used to have a mesh, but was able to replace that with a single router when I got the GT-AX6000. One of the things that I appreciate about Asus, in addition to the quality of their hardware, is that they support their products with new firmware for several years. They don't just put out a couple of bug fix firmware releases and then stop supporting their products, like some other manufacturers do :-).
Close to $200 and works really well, the Asus GT-AX6000. Using one right now, gives me full house wireless coverage in our 2000 sq.ft. 2-story house. Has a couple of 2.5Gbps ports as well. Nice piece of hardware. Highly recommended.
Asus GT-AX6000 or RT-AX88U Pro. I have a 2000 sq. ft. home, and don't need a mesh with the GT-AX6000. The RT-AX88U Pro is the same hardware, but may be better on the spousal acceptance factor :-). At any rate, I get great coverage in my house with this single router. And it has some really good monitoring tools, QoS, and a system log. You also have the choice of third-party firmware (RMerlin) if you're looking for that. Won't use up your entire budget, though, only running around $260 on Amazon.
I love my rapture gt ax-6000 with Merlin + ax55 in mesh with wired back haul setup
I have this one, which I believe has the exact same hardware inside as the AX88U https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Rapture-Gaming-Router-GT-AX6000/dp/B09L8PCTPT/ref=dp_fod_d_sccl_2/134-6384048-2410800?pd_rd_w=d37Ux&content-id=amzn1.sym.9cf17164-13e4-4652-96f9-f76b8f33fec0&pf_rd_p=9cf17164-13e4-4652-96f9-f76b8f33fec0&pf_rd_r=FJN381FBZ6WY0AVXXWA9&pd_rd_wg=64eqW&pd_rd_r=6954200d-f887-4200-a091-4b105230e9d4&pd_rd_i=B09L8PCTPT&psc=1 It looks like a head crab. But: it runs cool, has never crashed or locked up on me (one work from home, one gamer, TVs/rokus, Apple/Windows/game consoles/iPads/phones/Samsung tablet, etc: no problems. You can turn off the game light thing (I have the lights off.) It was about $400 when it launched, about half that now. If you have a spot for it and your significant other would be OK with the box, I do recommend it highly. Runs Merlin. Just got one for a family member who is getting google fiber, has two work from homers.
I actually needed to replace my ROG AX6000 router and I bought two routers to try them out. I bought the UDR7 and a Netgear RS500. I can say that the UDR7 has very poor coverage and worse long range performance compared to both the ROG and Netgear. The Netgear is the best of the three and the ROG on second place. I live in a 600 Sqft apartment and both the Netgear and ROG maxed out my 1000/1000 Mbps connection on WiFi in every corner, while the UDM7 gave me around 400/400 Mbps in some corners and only maxed out right by the router. I believe Ubiquiti products are meant to be built out with more APs rather than using one standalone powerful router. The UDR7 is only using 2x2 radios vs the other routers and that is very noticeable. The UDR7 UI is nice but I think I will return it since I’m replying on only one router and have no plans to add any APs.
I have over 2GBps plan but my old modem and router gave me a fraction of speed. I recently bought the following and now getting blazing speed around my 1 level 1700 sq house. Great investment for me. Modem: Arris s34 Router: Asus Rog GT AX6000 Learned about them from many subs, and reviews on web
I just retired my Google puck WiFi. I had 1Gb service and with G WiFi I got a fraction of that speed. One room isn’t too far away from main router had horrible signal despite having a puck in there. The few tests I ran the mesh didn’t seem to do much. I’m in a single floor home, around 1700 sq ft. I recently upgraded to 2GB plan (I don’t need the speed but was part of the plan I got to reduce overall cost), and bought new modem and router that can keep up. I got the Asus Rogue GT-AX6000 router and now I easily get over 120mpbs on iPhone all over the house. On a MacBook near router it actually hit 1.5GBps! The router is twice as much as the Nest but well worth it. My old router was holding me back from the service I paid for.
